The Lodge Cottage is a slate-roofed stone cottage at the head of a secluded valley in the Radnor Forest, a hilly expanse of forest, sheep pastures, rocky outcrops and moorland. In the heart of Radnorshire, the least populated county in all of England and Wales, our cottage is an idyllic place to enjoy a relaxing holiday in beautiful and unspoiled Welsh border country.

Accommodation
  • The sitting-room features wooden beams, a slate floor and a wood-burning stove.
  • The large main bedroom has south-facing windows with fine views. There is a smaller bedroom with two bunk beds, and also a comfortable double sofa bed in the sitting room.
  • The kitchen is fully equipped with an electric cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave and washing machine.
  • There is an upstairs bathroom, and another toilet downstairs.
  • As well as the wood-burning stove, the cottage is warmed by night storage heaters and additional electrical heaters. Logs and storage heating are included in the rent; guests bring linen and pound coins for standard-rate electricity.
  • We can accommodate up to 12 guests by special arrangement; please ask.
  • Note that the cottage has no TV, and no TV reception.
  • See for yourself: for a virtual tour of the cottage, visit our website.

Ideas

  • For hiking or mountain biking, just open the door and go - bridleways and footpaths take you up through forest, hills, moorland and pastures. There is also a riding stable nearby.
  • The area around the cottage is excellent for wildlife, from roe deer to red kites, ravens to redstarts.
  • The nearest village, Bleddfa, is a mile or so down the lane. It has an arts centre and a friendly pub serving good food.
  • Nearby attractions include Knighton on Offa's Dyke, Presteigne and Llandrindod Wells. Or take a trip to Ludlow, the Elan Valley, or Hay-on-Wye.

Relax, take it easy and get re-invigorated, in a place where mobile phones don't yet reach!
