To make your winter break at Locka Old Hall Cottage that bit more cosy, we have installed a woodburning stove.

Some visitor comments:

Our first time here, but just a lovely experience. A lovely setting and a lovely place to stay. The cottage is lovely and very homely. I'm sure we will be back.
D and B, from Halifax, September 2010

What a revelation this part of the country has been. It knocks spots off the Lakes when it comes to space, countryside and a distinct lack of people. We have completed lots of walks with absolutely beautiful views. We have had a brilliant time.
D and E, County Durham, August 2010

A comfortable cottage in a peaceful location with lovely views of the Howgills. Enjoyed Ruskin's View at Kirkby Lonsdale, Ruskin's house at Brantwood, Coniston and visiting the nearby villages. We also had a "Brief Encounter" at Carnforth station. We enjoyed feeding the chickens and watching the wildlife from the cottage.

Another wonderful week in this gem of a cottage. Lovely walks and great weather. Hope to be back soon.
F and M, Derbyshire, May 2010

Thank you for letting us stay at your cottage. We had a lovely relaxing time. Great walking books and we hope to be back soon.

We'd like to say thank you for letting us stay here. It was the perfect retreat for anyone who has been through a stressful time. We certainly made the most of our stay; taking in the scenery, walks, local food, and yes, the birds were a delight to watch and feed.
J and S, St Helens, December 2009

This place is absolutely wonderful: great scenery, brilliant views and a great fire. We were just so lucky!

Gill and Tim - you have got this cottage spot on the "comfort and quality" button. The countryside is so suitable for exploring. We've booked cottages for the last 20 years and Locka Old Hall Cottage is definitely in our "top three" visited cottages.
J and D, Kent, October 2009

Very comfy cottage and excellent weather overall. Enjoyed the bullfinch, woodpecker and nuthatch and of course the hens, who were very entertaining. Great location for the Dales and the Lakes. N and P, Fife, September 2009

Thank you to Tim and Gill for a great welcome and a fantastic cottage. Can't wait to book again. Brilliant views and walks - we had a great week. L and D and kids, Birmingham, March 2009

Best bits: views from the windows, the lambs, pies from the butchers in Hornby, fabulous long muddy walks, cosy cottage. Worst bit: we won't be here when the bluebells are out. Thanks for a great week. P and A, Shrewsbury, March 2009

Our first visit to this area - a stunning place to explore, so much to see, and this lovely cottage to come home to each night and rest our weary legs. Perfect - we'll miss the luxury! Thank you Gill and Tim for your warm welcome and local knowledge. I am sure we'll be back.
M and M and Blu the dog, Dorset, February 2009

It was our first visit and we will definitely be returning. It was a very relaxing week in wonderful surroundings. Thank you. A and L, F and A (from Wakefield), Christmas 2008 [who then re-booked for Christmas 2009 ...]
