To make your winter break at Locka Old Hall Cottage that bit more cosy, we have installed a woodburning stove.

What a revelation this part of the country has been. It knocks spots off the Lakes when it comes to space, countryside and a distinct lack of people. We have completed lots of walks with absolutely beautiful views. We have had a brilliant time.

A comfortable cottage in a peaceful location with lovely views of the Howgills. Enjoyed Ruskin's View at Kirkby Lonsdale, Ruskin's house at Brantwood, Coniston and visiting the nearby villages. We also had a "Brief Encounter" at Carnforth station. We enjoyed feeding the chickens and watching the wildlife from the cottage.

We'd like to say thank you for letting us stay here. It was the perfect retreat for anyone who has been through a stressful time. We certainly made the most of our stay; taking in the scenery, walks, local food, and yes, the birds were a delight to watch and feed.

Gill and Tim - you have got this cottage spot on the "comfort and quality" button. The countryside is so suitable for exploring. We've booked cottages for the last 20 years and Locka Old Hall Cottage is definitely in our "top three" visited cottages.
