Out and About

  • The coastline of North Northumberland is well known for its sandy beaches and superb scenery. The nearest sandy beach is 1/2 mile away but flats harbouring diverse bird life are at the bottom of the gardens (children should be under supervision).
  • There is a sailing marina at Amble and boat launching at Seahouses and Beadnell (particularly good for dinghies and windsurfers).
  • Northumberland has picturesque villages overlooked by magnificent castles such as Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh.
  • Alnwick is a larger town and is guarded by a stunning castle, used for scenes in Harry Potter films.
  • The Alnwick Gardens are internationally famous with fountains, the 'poison garden' and a huge wooden treehouse with restaurants and play areas, a haven for children.
  • Budle Bay is easily accessible by road and rail but remains off the beaten track and as a result is untroubled by modern development.
  • Just off this stretch of coastline, lie the Farne Islands. Well known by SCUBA divers and naturalists alike, these islands are host to a diverse cross section of bird and marine life, including seals, together with other coastal species. Boat trips to the Farnes can be arranged from Seahouses 3 miles south of the apartment.
  • There are interesting market towns in the region. Alnwick with its weekly market is only 15 miles away, Morpeth and Berwick both a scenic 20 mile drive.
  • There are excellent golf courses nearby at Bamburgh and Seahouses.
  • A visit to the region would not be complete without a visit to Holy Island; a 20 minute drive from the apartment.
  • Young or old, walker, bird-watcher, golfer or sandcastle builder the area has something for everyone.

Short breaks are available out of season phone for availability.
