An ideal peaceful retreat... Lamont Holiday Homes are situated two miles from Glenelg village. The bungalow and five chalets, are well spaced out and very well equipped. The bungalow stands in its own site. Large living room / dining room with open fire. 1 double bedroom, 2 twin bedrooms. Bathroom with a jacuzzi bath and shower. Fitted kitchen with all facilities. Electricity and linen included in rent. Central heating throughout. There is a games room and laundry on site. They are set in superb tranquil countryside - under 2 miles from the coast and sandy beach. The ferry to the Isle of Skye is a 5 minute crossing. Wildlife There is an abundance of wildlife, golden eagles, sea eagles and many of the rarer bird species, a local seal colony and wildlife otters. This is where Gavin Maxwell lived and wrote his books including 'Ring of Bright Water'. The site of his home at Sandaig is one of the most beautiful locations in the area. Several of the surrounding peaks exceed 3000 feet.
History The area is rich in history. The road was built by General Wade in the early eighteenth century to serve Bernera Barracks, the ruins of which still stand. In earlier times, the area was the site of a pictish settlement and the ruins of the two brochs, Dun Telve and Dun Trodden, are the best preserved examples of these structures on the Scottish mainland.
