Immaculate, modern, really centrally located to all key attractions, lovely owners and a shop nearby for all grocery needs too. If you are lucky enough to find an empty slot at Kringla then you should grab the opportunity without hesitation. Can't rate this lovely place highly enough - a home away from our NZ home
It has been a pleasure to stay in Kringla - the best appointed and thought through place of its kind ever! And Dounby is a brilliant place from which to visit(in our case) Stromness and the Pier Art Gallery, the Broch of Gurness, the cairns, brochs and knowes and ofcourse, our favourite for a long time, the Ring of Brodgar( this year against a background of mysterious cloud). The Dounby butcher lived up to its reputation and the Co op was both useful and friendly. Thank you Kay! Please tell Alastair his eggs were delicous! Yum! - Caro and Michael, London(been to Orkney 17 times!) August 2014
We enjoyed a very pleasant stay thanks to the superb comfort of this lovely apartment. Well equipped and furnished in a stylish fashion it provided a good base to explore the mainland and other islands such as Hoy. Attractions that we enjoyed include Skara Brae, Tomb of the Eagles, the Old Man of Hoy and the island of Papa Westray. Kay was fantastic though out providing advice on places to visit and helping out with any problems. Thanks so much for making our first visit to Orkney such an enjoyable one and we hope to return to this beautiful place in the near future. - Andrew and Sam Newton, Somerset July 2014
“What can I say?” What a wonderful, wonderful place! The accommodation is first class!!! I saw a puffin yesterday for the first time! It made the holiday! We will be back, hopefully for a little longer next time. I will be recommending Kringla 3 to everyone! It was a pleasure to stay here. Thank you Kay for making our Orkney stay so very wonderful. &£61514; Kerry and family, Perthshire. July 2014
"Fantastic apartment. Everything you need but the memory foam mattress made it perfect. Never slept so well on holiday. Kay and locals so helpful and welcoming. We didn't come for the weather but wow!! What a fortnight - warmth and sunshine. We came wothout a car and everyone thought we were mad but the bus service is great. We got around the island, went to Shapinsay, saw some amazing wildlife and just loved it. We were priviledged to see the Commonwealth baton come to Dounby. A perfect holiday. " Liz and Barbara from Leicestershire. 12th July 2014
"Had a superb 10 days at Kringla. Have stayed in lots of self catering places over the years and Kringla ranks as the best.
The owner, Kay, was so helpful, organising lots of things to do for us and even helping get our Xmas dinner! A lovely Xmas tree was awaiting us when we arrived along with real presents for all of us under the tree!!
The apartment itself was equipped to the very highest standards throughout, all brand new fixtures and fittings and furnishings, newly decorated too and very spacious.
Kringla's location in the heart of Orkney's world famous Neolithic monuments was so ideal. The village of Dounby had plenty of local shops whilst Kirkwall and Stromness are both around 20 mins away by car.
I hope we get another chance to holiday in Orkney again and enjoy another great time at Kringla" Paul Rumbles, Flintshire. Xmas and New Year 2013/14

“Had a wonderful stay at Kringla. Cosy, comfortable with all the facilities. Felt like a home away from home.” Chaudhuri family, Cheshire. 3rd January 2014
"Kay gives a wonderful welcome and introduction to Orkney. The weather was lovely, breezy, bright and very light! The sites – natural, historical and archaeological are all brilliant, and guides/hosts friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed a ferry to Hoy and the Scapa Flow Museum and local farm museum as well at Skara Brae and Maes Howe. The accommodation is high quality, tastefully decorated and well equipped (esp. good beds!) An interesting, restful and enjoyable holiday. Thank you.
