Huntshaw Mains - A former farmhouse high on Huntshaw Hill, nestled on the South side of its steadings. The Southerly view is among the finest in the Borders, with the Eildons and the Cheviots framing Northumberland in the distance. The house is light and comfortable, with a separate room for children which includes a quarter-sized billiard table and a one acre stock-fenced field for children to play in.

House:Spacious sitting room with big comfortable chairs, open fire, a separate room for the children, a large kitchen and a bedroom layout easily divided for two families. The magnificent view imbues the whole house with a calm relaxed feel.

Ground floor  
  • Front door to small hall, 2nd door to main hall;
  • Large kitchen;
  • Loo with separate wash hand basin;
  • Large lounge with TV, DVD, Radio and CD player and a similar sized children's play room, both looking Southwards to the sweeping views.
Upstairs  
  • 2 Main bedrooms with good wardrobe space facing South;
  • 1 family Bathroom with bath, shower, toilet and wash hand basin;
  • 1 double room with ample wardrobe space;
  • 1 room with bunk-beds;
  • 1 shower room with toilet and wash hand basin, ensuite to 3 & 4.

  • Garden table, 4 chairs, 2 sunloungers;
  • Ample parking on gravel at the front and side;
Other:  
  • Check-in from 4pm, check-out 10am;
  • Bed linen (not towels) included;
  • No fixed-line telephone is available but mobile reception usually good.
Locale:  
  • Shops: Earlston is half a mile away, with pubs, post office, supermarkets petrol station and various takeaways;
  • Fishing: The Mighty Tweed is only 3 miles and Earlston is about half way along it and, only 11 miles to the legendary TWEEDSIDE TACKLE shop in Kelso;
  • Golf: Torwoodlee, 7 miles away, welcomes visitors and, further afield on the coast, are half a dozen courses at Dunbar, North Berwick West Links, Gullane, Muirfield, Luffness New, Longniddry, Kilspindie and Craigielaw.
  • Historic Sites within 30 minutes are: Abbeys: Melrose, Kelso, Jedburgh and Dryburgh; Castles: Crichton, Floors, Smailholm and Thirlestane; Houses: Gala Aisle + House, Abbottsford. Edinburgh, our capital city and a UNESCO World Heritage site, is 36 miles away;
  • Local Culture: Visit Scotland can advise annual Common Riding dates of each Borders town, when they process their boundaries;
  • Horseracing: Kelso;
  • Mountain Biking: Glentress Forest, nr. Peebles, is 25 miles off and reputed to be the best in Europe, with an excellent facilities, shop, rentals & instructions. The landscape is outstanding and well worth visiting, as paths are designated bikers or hikers.
  • Walks: With the right to roam in Scotland, Scottish Borders walks start from the house but there are spectacular documented walks such as Sir Walter Scott Way and St Cuthbert's Way (to the Northumberland coast;)
  • Sea: Beaches at Belhaven Bay, Coldingham, Pease Bay, Whitesands and the coastline of St. Abbs and Dunbar, have high reputations for surfing and diving.
