is a fascinating and often surprising island that exerts its magic on visitors of all generations. The ferry journey from Ardrossan takes 55 minutes and you step ashore to an environment far removed from the noisy, fast paced, hurly-burly of mainland Britain. The island is only 20 miles along and 56 miles around its coastline and is aptly described as "Scotland in miniature".

is ideally situated in a peaceful rural setting close to the shore in the popular seaside village of Blackwaterfoot.  

• This traditional stone-built cottage is well equipped, offering comfortable accommodation with modern facilities, yet retaining its "Old World Charm", with beamed ceilings in the kitchen and sitting room, open "old style" hearth fire in the kitchen, with electric heaters in all rooms (£1 coin meter).
• Bathroom downstairs with bath and shower.
• Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with two 4ft x 6ft beds (linen supplied).
• There are electric blankets on beds and the property is double glazed throughout.
• There is a large secluded garden and private parking.

Location  

• The cottage is within easy walking distance of all the village facilities, these include Post Office/ licensed grocer, newsagent, butcher, home bakery.
• The two hotels serve bar and restaurant meals.
• There is plenty to do with fishing, pony-trekking, cycle hire, bowling, tennis and golf in the village.
• Walks from the cottage offer sightings of seals and many birds frequent the shoreline.
• There is an abundance of walking to be found, from easy rambles to more strenuous hill-walking and climbing in the mountains.
• Hope Cottage is an ideal base for touring and exploring the rest of the island.
