Nearby Grange over Sands has a mainline rail station, banks, launderette, post office, TIC, park with bandstand, indoor swimming pool, golf course and many traditional shops: coastal train journeys have spectacular views.
Nearby are the magnificent gardens of Holker Hall, Levens Hall and Sizergh Castle; also visit Haverthwaite steam train, Lakeside for Windermere cruises, and Kendal museums. Try local gourmet food.
