• This wonderfully quiet and private cottage is in the heart of one of the most dramatically beautiful and least touristy parts of the Lake District, between Wordsworth's favourite Duddon Valley and Eskdale.
• Spacious yet cosy and very comfortable, this fabulous cottage makes the perfect base for a family holiday, a serious walking/climbing holiday - or romantic retreat.
• Offering the best of both worlds, High Ground Cottage is away from traffic and tourists, but offers loads of great things to do nearby, and it's an easy drive to the Lake District's biggest attractions at Ambleside, Coniston and Windermere.

Accommodation  

• Full of pictures, games and books with a big farmhouse kitchen at its heart, the views from every window will take your breath away.
• You'll find everything you need: dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge/freezer, microwave, music system, Sky TV and telephone, DVD Player, underfloor central heating, patio and enclosed garden with table and chairs, linen and towels included, cot and high chair available, ample parking.
• There's a cosy double aspect sitting room with stone fireplace and a further large, double aspect sitting room with big glass patio doors so you can sit and drink in the view. A comfy and easy-to use sofabed in this room sleeps two.
• Upstairs there are four stylish bedrooms: two double and two twins. There are two bathrooms with showers upstairs and a further shower room and toilet downstairs.
• Outside you can relax on the patio in the enclosed garden listening to the skylarks and watching the local herdwick sheep grazing. Directly in front of you is Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England, and the high fells of the Lake District.

Local amenities  

• A post office and stores is just a few minutes drive away, as are a number of excellent pubs.
• Broughton-in-Furness is 15 minutes drive and has terrific food shops selling local produce as well as good food pubs and cafes.

• Owl Sanctuary, house and gardens at Muncaster Castle.
• St Bees vast sandy beach and beach cafe.

The cottage is available from 4pm on day of arrival to 10 am on day of departure.
