Our first season at Hazelnut Cottage was a great success and  we have been delighted by the number of guests who have visited and enjoyed both the area and the cottage.  We have had some lovely comments in our visitors' book.

We found that giving flexibility on start dates and duration was welcomed by our guests and we intend to offer this again this year.  First come first served!

The  weather last summer could have been better but this was compensated a bit, for us anyway, by the lovely weather we had in the autumn.  The colours were absolutely brilliant with nice clear skies and views right across the hills.   Alan and I were able to find some time to do some walking so I plan to have a few more walks in the folder for next year.

2013 is the Year of Natural Scotland and there are some interesting events in the planning.

Spring Fling , which is the our Dumfries and Galloway wide showcase for artists living and working in the area is from 23 to 25 May 2013.

The annual wildlife fortnight is scheduled for 29 March to 14 April.

We would be delighted if you decided to visit us in 2013

We are looking forward to welcoming you to our beautiful part of Scotland

"What a lovely stay we've had at Hazelnut Cottage.  Very well equipped cottage in good location.  Warm and comfortable with everything you need.

Recommend Selkirk Arms in Kirkcudbright for Sunday lunch.  Make sure you have Ecclefechan tart for pudding -delicious !

Some great walks and very friendly people, will be back "

Thank you for letting us stay in your cottage, we had a wonderful time.  Hazelnut is a very comfortable and welcome retreat at the end of a day.

We would definitely recommend doing a beach ride and there were lots of good shops in Castle Douglas for local produce.  Go to Hendersons for the steak pies because they are amazing.  We will definitely be back and we wish any future guests a happy holiday at Hazelnut

A thousand thank yous for the warmest welcome we have EVER enjoyed at a holiday cottage. Hospitality is a gift and you have it in bucket loads, you deserve to do very well.  Can I also compliment you on your attention to detail including the decor, art work (splendid) and the touches that make this a beautiful cottage, far more a home from home than an austere holiday let.

We visited many places here but there are beautiful gems of beaches between Gatehouse of Fleet and Borgue

We've had a fantastic stay at Hazelnut Cottage. The children adored the garden and it has been wonderful being away from everyday life. We have had great fun watching for wildlife out of your magnificent picture windows and the stars at night are amazing with no light pollution.
