Havra welcomes you with a warm and comfortable blend of old and new, set in a landscape of rugged cliffs and sandy beaches where people have lived for thousands of years.
  • Harbour porpoises often seen from the garden and maybe even a humpback or killer whales.
  • Around Havra, the Maywick Valley is a lush green valley, off the beaten track but only minutes from the main roads. The nearby loch and burn have trout populations and the whole area is ideal for hill-walking or cycling. Just up the road the loch of Spiggie, is one of Shetland's premier trout fishing locations and the whole area is renowned for the resident and migrant birdlife.
  • A short walk down the peaceful single-track road brings you to the tranquil sheltered Maywick Beach and the resident seals. If you are lucky you may even see an otter.
  • A short drive takes you to the internationally recognised archaeological sites at Jarlshof and Scatness, or the world class seabird colonies of Sumburgh Head, also an ideal site for spotting whales and dolphins in late summer and autumn and there's a chance you'll see awe-inspiring Killer Whales.
  • Shetland has a fantastic network of public leisure centres, golf courses and outdoor pursuits and the islands are rich with cultural activities, festivals and events all year around.
