 Harport Cottage stands on the shore of Loch Harport, in the small village of Carbost, very close to the Cuillin hills. The ideal base from which to explore the best of Skye's walks and climbs, the cottage is ten minutes from Glenbrittle beach and the many routes into the Cuillin. The friendly local pub, village shop and famous Talisker whisky distillery are all within 200 metres.
Accommodation Freshly decorated and re-furnished the cottage has a vintage seaside feel, with stripped and polished wooden floors and antique furniture. The whole cottage is centrally heated and double glazed. The lounge is very comfortable, with an open fire and views over the loch. There is a separate dining area, hi-fi system and television and DVD player. There are double and twin bedrooms, all with good beds and down and feather duvets and pillows. The bathroom is modern and white, with full size bath and electric shower. The bright kitchen is well equipped, includes a washing machine and microwave and enjoys great views across the loch. The crockery is white, and the pots and pans are stainless steel. Locally grown organic vegetables can be delivered to the door. We are only a few metres from the Talisker whisky distillery, which is open to visitors all year round. The neighbouring Old Inn serves good food and locally made beers and the well stocked village shop keeps newspapers and a good selection of food and drink; they are both within 200 metres of the cottage. Skye's 'capital', Portree, with its pretty harbour and excellent choice of shops and restaurants is only 20 minutes away by car.
