Harport Cottage stands on the shore of Loch Harport, very close to the Cuillin hills. Surrounded by wildlife and spectacular mountain scenery this is the perfect base from which to explore Skye. The cottage is freshly decorated and imaginatively furnished and has a vintage 1950s feel, with painted and polished wooden floors, retro fabrics and many handmade furnishings. The stunning Glenbrittle beach and many routes into the Cuillin are only ten minutes away, while the excellent local pub, village shop and world famous Talisker whisky distillery are all within a few minutes walk.

Accommodation

The lounge is characterful and very comfortable, with a wood burning stove, large corner sofa and cosy armchairs. There is an excellent selection of books and films, an ipod docking system and a retro style radio. There is also a vintage dining table and chairs which enjoy fine views over the loch.
Chill out in our loft room and gaze at the stars through our roof light telescope or relax on a huge pile of handmade cushions and enjoy a film on our new DVD projector.
The garden has its own gate leading directly to the shore of the loch and a BBQ firepit where you can enjoy a starlit outdoor roaring fire.
Harport Cottage is a low tech haven! There is no television or internet service and there is little or no mobile phone signal. We find a low tech holiday helps our guests to relax, forget about work and really enjoy nature.
There are double and twin bedrooms all with excellent beds, with cosy, down and feather duvets and pillows and organic white bed linen and towels.
The whole cottage is centrally heated by a sustainable and newly installed wood burning system.
The bathroom is modern with a white suite, colourful vintage decor and painted tongue and groove panelling. There is a full size bath, electric shower and stunning views over the loch and surrounding hills.
The fun kitchen is bright and well equipped with a selection of new and vintage crockery and kitchenware and also enjoys great views across the loch.

We are only a few metres from the Talisker whisky distillery (you can smell the delicious whisky mash from our doorstep) and the neighbouring Old Inn is one of the best pubs on the island. It serves excellent, locally sourced food and handmade beers and hosts lively music sessions often lasting well into the night! The characterful and well stocked village shop keeps newspapers and a good selection of food and drink and is within five minutes walk. Skye's 'capital' Portree and its pretty harbour is only 20 minutes away by car and offers an excellent choice of shops and restaurants. We also offer a special map of 'where to go' for any guests interested in hunting for vintage and retro gifts and treasures.
