At the top of the Furness Peninsula in the South Lakes lies a collection of hamlets called Kirkby-in-Furness. Halsteads is found in Sandside, overlooking the Duddon Estuary and has a stunning panoramic view with over 30 fell tops visible on a clear day. It is close to the spectacular Duddon Valley, the Lakeland Coastal path runs almost by the door and the Central Lakes are only 40 minutes away. It is an ideal centre for walkers as there is excellent access to Southern and Western fells. There is much for cyclists, ornithologists and naturalists to enjoy, as well those wishing to simply relax in a quieter part of the Lakes. - Halsteads is a bungalow that sleeps 4-6 people in comfort, is spacious and equipped to a high standard.
 - It has a large sun terrace for alfresco dining and BBQ's.
- The village is tranquil and enjoys dark skies for those who like a bit of star gazing.
- Local amenities include a village store and Post Office, two pubs with different but very good food, and station, all within easy walking distance.
- At the village community centre there are good sports facilities including bowls, tennis courts, cricket, football and a children's play area.
