 Charming Self catering holiday Cottage situated 3 miles from Builth Wells, Powys (home of The Royal Welsh Show), the heart of mid Wales. This delightful converted barn, perched at the top of the hill, has breathtaking views over the Irfon valley and the Cambrian Mountains. A birdwatchers paradise, level with birds circling high above the valley, Hafod-y-Blodau is surrounded by pasture land and woodland to which tenants are permitted access on foot, leading onto the open hill for walking enthusiasts. Fishing in the River Irfon, 15 minutes walk down the hill, is available by arrangement. On the river bank is the tiny chapel of St David, Llanynis, where legend says, Llewlyn ap Gruffydd, the last Welsh Prince of Wales, prayed before being slain in a skirmish on Dec 11th 1282. A monument, marking the spot where he fell, is across the river in Cilmary. With pony trekking near by, and an easy drive to Hay on Wye, The Black Mountains, The Brecon Beacons and The Elan Valley Dams, Rhayader, it provides an ideal refuge from the hurly burly of every day life with peace and tranquillity yet accessible to a wide range of interesting attractions or activities, either energetic or not!
