Dating from 1608, Hacket Forge stands on the banks of the River Brathay, in the beautiful Little Langdale valley. It was originally a forge, and the Wordsworths were familiar with it, as was Beatrix Potter who bought land on the other side of the river. For many years the present owners have welcomed self-catering visitors, who enjoy the peaceful setting in which Hacket Forge looks down on the river's rush to Colwith Force.

Accommodation The Bracken Loft is the end portion of Hacket Forge, providing private, totally self-contained accommodation of character, with its own front and back doors. - The first-floor area comprises a spacious lounge/dining-room with beamed ceiling, tv, and a cosy bedroom with twin beds, overlooking the river.
- In the living-room there is the alternative of a sofa bed which makes up into a double bed.
- Also on the first-floor is the bathroom and toilet.
- Downstairs the kitchen is equipped with gas cooker, fridge and microwave.
- The back door from the kitchen opens on to the parking area and a walk along the river bank (pictured).
- Visitors also have their own garden (pictured).
Location - The cottage is within easy walking distance of Colwith Force, Tilberthwaite Ghyll, Wetherlam and Tarn Hows, and there is an abundance of beguiling scenery - tarns, mountains, becks - to explore locally.
- There is no need to use a car unless you wish to shop (nearest grocery one-and-and a half miles).
- Ambleside, Coniston, Hawkshead and Grasmere are within five miles.
- The lakes, water sports, fishing and riding are within easy reach, and the nearest pub - the Three Shires Inn, serving bar and restaurant meals - is ten minutes' walk from the cottage.
Parking On private car park beside the cottage. For one car only.
The Bracken Loft is let Saturday to Saturday. Short breaks available out of season.
