Here are just a few of the comments from our
Our third stay at Guisachan and as always a lovely one. Peaceful and relaxing in the lovely surroundings soaking up the quietness. Thank you.
Yet another wonderful say at Guisachan.
We are never ready to leave.
Our first time coming in June and it was lovely to see the cherry trees in bloom and the bumble bees so active. Sadly the weather started well but deteriorated quickly. It is so comforting though to sit in the sun room quietly with the rain pitter pattering on the roof.
Did our usual visit to Chanonry Point to see the dolphins and were very impressed with all the new seats and picnic tales. Glen Strathfarrar never fails to com up trumps with wildlife and this visit it was cuckoos as the star turn.
Now on the count down to our next visit in October.
What a fabulous place, I have never seen so many different birds in one place before and it was a joy to watch.
Thank you Jenny
Where to start! What an exceptional house in such a beautiful setting, on the door step of some of the most exquisite scenery. Monroe baggers paradise, which my husband made the most of! We all enjoyed watching the wildlife right outside the windows from badgers to an amazing variety of birds, including woodpeckers.
A short walk from the cottage brings you to the stunning Plodda falls where, if you keep your eyes open, you may catch a Red Squirrel. Horse trekking its also on offer along here.
The house itself is lovingly cared for, extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean with lots of thoughtful extras, open cupboards to discover toys, jigsaws, hoopla hoops and even golf clubs. A delicious home made lemon drizzle cake awaited our arrival.
There are plenty of places to eat out, we enjoyed the nearby Hotels and Drumnadrochit was about 15 minute drive away, offering lovely gift shops, farm shops, and further lunch/dinner venues. Here, we bought some of the largest eggs I have ever come across.
The best thing of all for us though, was being able to bring along our two dogs, there were thoughtful extras laid on for them too, including dog towels, feeding bowls and leads. It is not always easy to find a comfortable cottage that accepts dogs as we know only too well, but Guisachan is the rare exception.
Don't worry if you are coming without a pet as I mentioned earlier the cottage could not be more well cared for. We will definitely return to this paradise and we cannot wait to do so.
Another wonderful stay here in the Lodge over a special time for us) Tom's birthday, Gemma & Tom's wedding anniversary & Easter Weekend). We visited Urquhart Castle which we all enjoyed, Fort Augustus, Fort William , took a ride up Ben Nevis Range and pony trekking and fishing. We all also enjoyed big walks around the area to see the stunning Plodda Falls and Dog Falls - what a gem on your doorstep! Lovely to enjoy the wonderful garden without snow this time! Thank you for our super Easter cake too! Lovely weather, lovely company and hope the badger doesn't cause you too much more trouble!! See you again next year!
A comfortable stay one again despite mixed weather. One munro bagged and other walks in the local area completed. A visit to Abriachan Gardens and Nursery allowed us to buy plants. Time spent one evening photographing a tawny owl which sat still in a tree for a long time! We enjoyed a meal at the Tomich Hotel. Heavy snow on one day, other days cold and frosty, wet and windy, and some sunny interludes and blue sky - all very mixed.
Delicious welcoming cake. Thank you.
p.s. Birds: Jay, Woodpecker, Blue Tits, Wren, Blackbird, Hooded Crow, Chaffinch, Tawny Owl
p.p.s. A Marilyn was bagged, along the road from Abriachan
A lovely visit enjoyed by all, especially the dogs who had their paws walked off! We walked the path though the woods towards Invermorsiston, via the Monument. We walked from the house up to Plodda Falls and back along the bottom track. We drove up the stunning Glen Affric and walked all 11.5 miles around Loch Affric - well worth the effort! Glen Cannich was different again, though beautiful. We saw lots of stags and a possible sighting of a Golden Eagle. Dog Falls was a shorter walk but loved it. Glen Strathfarrer just took our breath away. Again lots of stags and a mountain goat!
Thank you so much for your hospitality and the cake was yummy! We have all had a fabulous time and don't want to go!
Thank you Jenny and Paul for a wonderful stay.
These are some of our memories that we will have forever.

For me this is heaven on earth!
Thank you so much.
We booked the house as we were up here for the Scottish 6 Day and World Orienteering Championships. It proved to be a good choice. A wonderful garden for our dog, Nessa, and lovely views. The surrounding countryside was great for walks and runs We really enjoyed it and would come again to enjoy everything the place has to offer. Thanks again.
We have had such a relaxing time again in your Lodge Jenny. Everything as perfect as the first time we came. The comments in your Visitors Books are testament to that and you can also order brilliant weather!
We too enjoyed our trip to Dornock; lovely beach. Our third visit! and we still love the local walks, Plodda, etc. Great cheeses in the Deli Beauly, also try Robertsons farm shop! Loved our walk in Strathfarrar! Was able to make a few sketches but far too busy doing nothing for large parts of each day. Ah! Bliss! Home now and, hopefully we will see Mollies pups being born around 26th June. Weather has been lovely!
Another fantastic two weeks at Guisachan. Explored some new places 'Reelig Glen' and 'Fairy Glen'. Alfie has loved the garden - sorry but he has buried his bone somewhere for some other lucky dog to find! Dolphins at Chanonry Point did not disappoint. Glen Affric chaffinches as friendly as ever. Looking forward to November for our next visit.
Another beautiful week here at Guisachan. As usual the weather follows us with glorious sunshine all week. Great to see Jenny and Paul again, always the best of hosts. Still loving the cosy nights around the fire sharing beer and whiskey. Nature here is wonderful, beautiful birdsong, amazing skies. Biked up to Affric a couple of times, a great way to appreciate the scenery. Good food here in the Lodge and at Slaters, Tomich Hotel and Cnoc.
A lovely holiday, great walks up through the woods and along Glen Affric. The sun room is a great addition after a long day out, to sit and read all the interesting books on many subjects. A perfect location and a nice start to the holiday as Jenny had made a lemon drizzle cake.
This is our first visit to stay in Guisachan Lodge and we loved every minute. Though is is our second trip to Scotland we will be coming back again to stay here! Lovely walks around area to visit, highly recommend Plodda Falls! Lovely people and lovely company with our friends, Jenny, Ross and Toby the dog. Lots of room and things packed into this Lodge to read. Thanks for a wonderful stay! feel relaxed and do not want to go home / back to work!
Our first visit, but certainly not our last. Have had a wonderful few days recharging our batteries and enjoying this very special place. Thank you to Jenny for making us so welcome. Happy Christmas!
Another two lovely weeks. Think we saw an eagle near Dores. Two walks up to the monument. Weather not too bad at all - never stops us enjoying this beautiful area. Two weeks just flew by. Looking forward to next Spring.
Sadly the end of another two wonderful weeks here at Guisachan. We have been amazingly lucky with the weather. Sitting beside the loch at Glen Affric in shirt sleeves in October! It has been lovely to be able to spend time time actually sitting in the garden. The cherry trees have been a hive of activity the whole time with a wonderful array of birds. In the last few days a small flock of mistle thrushes have been regular visitors. The colours have changed in the last week to more Autumnal shades and there have been early morning mists in the valley. Wish we didn't have to leave. Now on countdown to next visit in May.
A fabulous week. Great weather. Great cycling. Great walking. Thank you!! See you next year!!
A lovely week had by all, our walk around Glen Affric was breathtaking. Went to the Nevis Range in For William, the weather was rough but we still enjoyed it. Jenny and Paul are the perfect hosts and we thank you for everything.
Here are just a few of the comments from our
We've had a great vacation at Guisachan. The weather was amazing, up to 25 degrees. We could do a lot of walking in the landscape and loveliness that cannot be found in our country: old, huge trees, silence, dark lochs, variety of nature, old cottages, haggis(!), and a lot more -like the gardens of Cawdor Castle and the garden of this house. What was most impressive? Difficult to say, but it could be Glen of Strathfarrar. Many thanks to Jenny, your welcome (the cake!) and the chats with you. Finally, it was where we saw Germany win the World Cup. (near Hamburg, Germany)
Looked very much forward to coming here from the photos and history of Guisachan Estate and were not disappointed. Stunning area, lovely comfortable big cottage and the weather has been fantastic, sometimes too hot for walking and spent some time just lazing about and enjoying the georgous garden. We did see dolphins briefly at Chanonry Point then Billy enjoyed swimming from the beach at Rosemarkie. The gardens are all beautiful, don't miss Strathfarrar where we did see two wild stags (not formed). I did make a note of the different species of bird that came to the garden and counted about 20, the list is very similar to the ones other guests have listed. A big thank you to Jenny for her hospitality and delicous home baked cakes. We are looking forward to our next visit.
Another superb week. Glorious weather except for 1 day, but that doesn't stop us! Wonderful holiday so far - now up to Plodda for another couple of weeks. Why does the time fly by so much? Cant wait until Autumn. Sadley Brodie was not here in person with us but Hamish and Isla still enjoyed themselves. Fising was sucessful too!
Had a fantastic week again. Great to witness a new addition to the garden - a bank vole running up and down the outside of the sun room! Weather has been Scottish - but Tuesday was incredible - great day to go and see the dolphins at Chanonry Point! Looking forward to our next visit in four months time!
Another lovely week in Jenny's cottage. Home from Home. We have had a great week. Weather has been good for us. Dogs enjoyed themselves as always. Georgous cake from Jenny. See you again in May and June!! Not long to wait before we are back "home".
It's always great to come back here, it is like home from home. Had a lovely lazy week. See you all when we come back in August with the grandchildren. Thank you for everything.
Thank you so much for our wonderful stay here at Guisachan Cottage. It was amazing when we did our treks to Plodda and the Secret Falls. We also enjoyed the company of Davy and John. The garden was the perfect size for knocking a football across it. It was also amazing for cooling down after our lovely dinners. We all also enjoyed chilazing in front of the fire reading our books and nodding off.
Thank you so much for letting us use your lovely house. We have thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas stay. The walk to Plodda Falls was well worth the effort. Hope to see you again sometime.
There really is not enough words to describe just how wonderful this beautiful cottage, and Tomich are!! Jenny and Paul are the most wonderful, kind people we have ever met, the whole Tomich experience we will never forget and desperately wishing that we did not ever have to leave. Jenny makes the most amazing cakes (big thank you!) flowers in every room. She has gone the extra mile. Others really fail to achieve what Jenny and Paul have created for this fantastic holiday experience. We wanted for absolutely nothing. Just would have loved some snow. We will be returning again and again. So sad to leave........
Another two weeks at Guisachan zipped by. How did that happen? Always seems to soon to leave. Thankfully, already booked for next May! Saw snow on the ground for the first time here, even though it only lasted a day. It was beautiful none the less. Went on a long-ish drive to Loch Quoich (past Invermoriston) and were rewarded with fantatic views of red deer who seemed quite time. Evidently a good spot for golden eagle and osprey as well but no self-respecting raptor would have been out in the weather we had that day! Perhaps another visit in May called for? Anyway, thanks again to Jenny and Paul for all you do to made this a wonderful place to come on holiday. See you in May!
Wonderful week, Autumn at its best, lovely colours, mostly lovely weather, only two rainy days but that meant lots of book reading and watching old films. Our friends who visited loved the place and took the bus and train back to London. The train stopped at Aviemore where they met a man from Tomich! We found lots of new dog walks in the forest. Derek did some good cycles. We will be back!
I have been to Tomich twice before; not here though! Booked for 2015!! It is indeed a 'little bit of heaven!' Enjoyed bird watching - Mum saw hawks and woodpeckers - beautiful.
I enjoyed some amazing walks. Can't wait to come back! Thank you so much!
It was worth every hour it took us to come up all the way from Bavaria to Guisachan. We would recommend it to all our friends because the cottage is just all you could wish for - Scotland at its best! Most of all thanks to you, Jenny, for making us feel at home and giving us such a warm welcome. Our week here was a real treat and we will always remember it as a very special time. Thanks also to David for taking the 'boys' fishing - that also is something they will always think back to! We just loved it!
Our stay has been one of those "memories of a lifetime". From our awe of the beauty of your home and gardens to the beautiful walks - how does one choose a favourite? The time it has given our family to enjoy one another has no price tag - it is beyond all value. Thank you from all of us for your kindness. May you know you are always welcome in our home - I will have the kettle on!
Another two glorious weeks. Have visited yet more different places - Castle of Mey and Shieldaig and Applecross, both worth going to even though a bit of a journey. Weather has been really good to us. Jenny and Paul have helped make our holiday special - we have met some lovely people and recommend the fishing on the River Farrar. Saw red squirrels and an oprey flying around by the garden. Can't wait until we're back in November.
Fourth stay at Guisachan Lodge and just as wonderful as the last three! First time here in the spring and although spring was late this year, still lovely to see everything coming to life during our stay. Amazing fortnight for wildlife, birds especially, including golden eagle, oprey and a gannet (yes a gannet!). Its always great to see Jenny and Paul - thanks so much for everything! Looking forward to seeing you again in November!
Back afer 7 years - way too long!! It was just as lovely as we remember it. Sad to leave - just perfect location for relaxing and enjoying peace and quiet. Great Place !!!
It's like coming home, we came for two weeks for my birthday, we have had a wonderful time and the weather has been great. Walk to Coire Loch from the house, Plodda Falls x 2, forgot my camera the first time, around Glen Affric. Car tip to Ullapool and Cromarty and train trip from Inverness to Kye of Lochalsh. Thank you Jenny and Paul for everything you are both so kind. See you in August when we come back with Victoria and James.
Two Glen Affric Munros, and one Glen Cannich Munro, various short walks, Plodda Falls, Dog Falls, circular to the Lord Tweedmouth monument on the hill etc. Lots of relaxation in the house, enjoying the fire. Visited Macphersons, Church Street, Inverness, for new cagouls - shop well stocked and worth a detour. Also the impressive camera shop, Fforde's, just this side of Beauly. Thanks very much for a lovely welcome and a comfortable cottage.
Our 4th stay, sadly without our old Golden, Dudley, this time. Molly (the new one enjoyed it, though. Recommend Loch Ness Inn at Drumnadrochit (Lewiston end). Usual walks locally, over to the Cairngorms and a mad day to John O Groats, along the top and down through the middle. Saw lots of deer, fed loads of birds, including black and white greater woodpecker. Plodda Lodge looks good, maybe next time!
CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR 2012
A fantastic two weeks. A special Christmas and New Years holiday. It's always like coming home, we had a wonderful relaxing Christmas - just what we needed. Tomich is just a perfect place and Jenny's cottage makes it ever more so.
Plodda Lodge will be just as wonderful, so everyone can look forward to holidays there as well: Thank you Jenny for making our holidays so great - only 8 weeks to go until we're back!
This is our first time here and we have had a wonderful time. We have enjoyed our walks, especialy over at Glen Affric. There was a lot of snow on top of the mountains. We saw three stags and got some great pictures of them. Thank you Jenny for a wonderful stay and the cake was wonderful.
Enjoyed being in this cosy house once again. All the glens were ablaze with red and gold with the bracken like brown silk. As well as walking, we visited Tain this year, an interesting town of ancient buildings and relics. The little museum houses an eye wateringly beautiful collection of old (Tain) silver, mostly spoons and other domestic items but truly lovely in gleaming satiny silver. Pictish stones are interesting, the old church and graveyards are delightful with the added bonus of the 'Bishops Walk'..............
Very hard to follow on from Barbara's sincere comments above but I will try. Last year was our 1st stay here - although we've been to this area 7 or 8 times over the years. Staying at Guisachan Lodge is pure pleasure!! The area is beautiful abut the combination makes it a totally relaxing, brilliant holiday. The thoughtfullness from Jenny and Paul is absolutely amazing. To us, they give back so much with their kindness. Our time together has been so special and are looking forward to coming back again next year. Thank you Jenny & Paul for everything and making our holiday so enjoyable.
This is our 7th year in Tomich and our 1st visit to Guisachan Lodge. This has been a home from home with all little extra's we did not expect. Every year we love the serenity, peace and quiet and lovely walks and being at the Lodge was an added bonus. See you next year. Thank you very much.
Another lovely, tranquil two weeks at Jenny's wonderful cottage. The weather was kind to us and we enjoyed good weather whilst those back home suffered. Enjoyed a few days fishing on the Farrer and Hill Loch - didn't break any records though!!
Ullapool is definitely worth a trip - beautiful scenery on the way across there, delightful harbour and plenty of places to eat. Chandery Point is another place to visit.
Thank you Jenny and Paul for helping us have the best two weeks - it was a wonderful holiday; the trouble is it is so hard to leave!!
So looking forward to late October.
There are just insufficient adjectives to describe this wonderful place. Jenny, you have thought of everything and added lots of 'special' touches - thank you. Bought our friends who had never visited Scotland before and did lots of travelling with them - another benefit of this wonderful location, easy to get to most places - did Glenelg and Skye and a long day out to Ullapool and Durness....
This is our 6th stay at Guisachan Lodge and we have had a wonderful holiday. The weather has been superb which was unexpected and I came up with lots of warm clothes! We have had some lovely forest walks and also spent lots of time just sitting in the garden watching the swallows repairing last years nests. Thank you Jenny for the delicious cakes which I look forward to. We have had the best time and will need to be surgically removed on Saturday! Already booked for next year and 2014 and can't wait.
Fabulous cottage, beautiful surroundings, had all seasons in one week (including snow). Highlights of the holiday, Plodda Falls - definitely worth the walk, fantastic views. John o'Groats - just to get the picture, nothing else there but nice drive, different view round every corner. Meeting Steve on Dores Beach (near the Dores Inn) great character who makes one off Nessie models. Finally curising on Loch Ness, we booked throught the Nessieland, the captain was very knowlegable. A week is not long enough to do everything. Jenny eas most helpful and very welcoming, would definitely recommend to family and friends. Nights in front of roaring fire totally relaxing. Thankyou Jenny, you should be very proud of your cottage.
Its always lovely to come back here. We have had a good week, lots of walks and the weather was OK. Saw a Red Kite over by Loch Ness, Tuesday 6th March and not seen one before. Thank you Jenny and Paul for everything. See you in August when we come with Victoria and James.
This is a perfect place to relax. Had a fabulous time, perfect place to celebrate my birthday and a lovely birthday cake. We cannot wait to return to our second home. We will be back.
Had a super week, really flew past. Thank you so much for all the little touches. The house and area are outstanding. We will be back again. Thanks for sending the snow!!
Christmas and New Year
We have had the most perfect two week Christmas ever. Loads of real quality family time in front of the fire in a wonderful cosy house. Every day the scenery has astonished us. Everyone we have met has been friendly and helpful no matter where we have been. We love the mountains, the lochs, the sunsets, the walking, trees, falls, sky, pubs, food, atmosphere, people, hospitality, whiskey (of course!) and pretty much everything else we have experienced. The dogs have had a most wonderful time running around the garden and playing which was a joy for us to see. All in all, a wonderful experience. Thanks to Jenny for the cake, choccies and Christmas decorations. With every best wish.
Another superb week this time showing Jamie and Sam just what it is we love about Tomich and introduce them to this very special place. Jenny and Paul, thank you for everything, we've had another great holiday and cannot wait for February 2012. Lovely weather and can't believe its November! Perfect!!
Second visit to this lovely cottage in a beautiful area. Last time we realised that one week was not long enough. Now we're leaving it doesn't feel like two weeks have been enough! Already booked for 2012 and 2013!! Thanks Jenny and Paul for all your help with getting our car sorted out - and taking in our washing when it started raining! All three of us have had a wonderful time and we're already counting down the weeks to the next one!
Back again and yet again the most wonderful relaxing week!!! Loads more exploring on the old Tweedmouth Estate trying to find those little Victorian nuggets of history! THANK YOU Jenny for my lovely birthday cake and card - really made my 39th birthday (but 1st Scottish birthday) really special (and my directions for my birthday walk up to Bienn Mhor - stunning view with snow on hilltops!) We will be back!!!!!
Amazing place - tranquil and blissful. We will need to come back and explore further. Thanks for the stay - very welcoming
This has been our second stay at Guisachan and the second time we have been struck by the spell that being here puts us under. The weather has been very, very lovely to us this week and we have enjoyed time in the beautiful garden as well as bathing ourselves in the silence of the hills and glens. We have seen buzzards, a barn owl and three stags somongst other things and these are the type of gifts that you receive from the glen, should you treat it with the respect that it so deserves!! Thank you Jenny and Paul once again for sharing Guisachan with us. So we will see you both again
Another relaxing holiday. This is our 5th visit to Guisachan Lodge and 18 years coming to Tomich. I have just been reading all my previous comments and can't better them. This year we have stayed around the house and garden and just enjoyed the peace of it all. Thank you Jenny for the superb cakes which were much enjoyed. Looking forward to our next visit.
A week of perfect weather spent in this gem of Scotland. We have really enjoyed our stay, lovely walks on the doorstep for us and the dogs. Tomich especially is a sort of time capsule unspoilt by the modern world. The lambs playing the the field, seen from the kitchen window, were a pleaseure to watch, they have a much better life than where we come from. Thank you Jenny for the delicious rhubarb cake and advice on walks etc, and letting us enjoy such a lovely propery and garden.
Fabulous holiday with incredible weather. We have had a fantastic time thanks to Jenny and all her hard work. Thank you! See you in September! Birds: crossbill, blue tit in box, yellow hammer ground feeding, first cuckoo, house martins and swallows. p.s. for posh-nosh recommend Court House Hotel in Contin, Stuart and Susannah are fantastic hosts. Beautiful hotel and gardens.
Another great week - just gets better, can't wait until June. Lots of snowy scenes and lovely walks. The cottage is just the best. Thank you again Jenny. Won't seem too long until we're "home" again
What a wonderful house and wonderful location. Beautiful walks every day. Cooking, reading. Great food and good wine. The snow was lovely. A perfect break! Kaiser (our dobermann) and Greta (GSP) absolutely loved the space and surroundings. It was so well set up for them with the enclosed garden and wonderful fireplace.
