The holiday accommodation at Gorton House has been created by the complete renovation of the premises in its 19th Century Victorian form, and the re-building in the grounds of a traditional stone cottage.

Three new Orchard Cottages were added in 2002.
This gives a total of seven units, sleeping from 4 to 7 persons, and by special arrangement, parties of 30+ can be accommodated.
We have a tennis court on site, Mini-Golf for the children (& adults), and in 2010 a new pond and woodland walk.

Gorton is located on the edge of Roslin Glen, a nature reserve on the banks of the River North Esk.

Edinburgh's famous Princes Street is only 9 miles (20 mins) distant and the city provides all the attractions expected from a national capital, yet within 5 miles of the rural setting of the house and cottage are the sporting facilities of eight golf courses, river and loch fishing, pony trekking, a dry-ski slope and two leisure centres with swimming pools. The Penicuik to Dalkeith walk/cycle track passes the gate of the premises and the Pentland Hills Regional Park provides the backdrop and is readily accessible.

The historic Rosslyn Chapel is only a short walk from the grounds and there are many other historic sites and buildings in the vicinity.

The adjacent village of Rosewell has shops and pubs, as do the nearby communities of B onnyrigg, Penicuik and Loanhead which also have supermarket shopping. 24 hr Tesco at Dalkeith (5 mins).
