Peace and Quiet; Activity; Widlife - come to the "House of the Eagles" for all these and more.
Our house is named after the nearby Loch of the Eagles - one of many small lochs scattered around this south eastern area of Lewis. There are good opportunities for fishing in both the inland lochs and the sealoch called Loch Ouirn around which the village is situated.
The house lies on a croft in a peaceful location towards the end of the glen and close to the burn leading down to the sealoch. The village of Gravir is on the east coast of the island almost exactly between Stornoway and Tarbert and is an ideal base for touring both Lewis and Harris to visit beautiful white sandy beaches and historical sites. It is also well located for walking over the moors and by the coast and for cycling along the quiet single track roads.
Birds and other wildlife abound - our visitors' book lists many different species including golden eagles. Please look at our Noticeboard to read some visitor's comments and updated notes.
Accommodation  Spacious kitchen refurbished to a high standard. Includes dishwasher, electric cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer. Separate utility room with automatic washing machine and tumble dryer. Cosy sitting room with comfortable seating. We provide plenty of books, maps and games. Two double bedrooms (one downstairs and one upstairs), and an upstairs twin bedroom. All bedrooms have recently been refurbished. Main bathroom includes an electric shower and is on the ground floor. Extra WC compartment upstairs. Facilities:  Small enclosed front garden and 4 acres of croft land. Bike shed (one adult and two children's bikes available for use by visitors). Barbecue. Drying cupboard. TV, radio, CD player, VCR/DVD player. All bedlinen and towels supplied at no extra charge. Electricity charged according to use. We are pleased to welcome up to 2 well-behaved dogs (small additional charge). A cot can be provided if required. One of the many superb beaches on the island:
