It was lovely to spend a fortnight here in such peaceful and creative surroundings. Lindisfarne is not a place you want to miss and Paxton House nearby proved to be interesting. If you are looking for an evening's entertainment the Maltings in Berwick has quite a spectrum of things on. Thank you Louise and Harris for making our stay comfortable - we hope to be back. M & M, West Sussex, March/April 2013
What a beautiful, peaceful cottage - a true respite from city-living. We loved the contemporary light decor and the artwork. Waking up to just the sound of birdsong, and just seeing views of open farmland from both sets of windows was a sheer delight. Having been looking for such a holiday cottage ourselves for 8 years now - it was worth the wait to find Gable End. Thank you T & J, Newcastle, February 2013
Thank you for a lovely holiday in your beautiful, cosy cottage. Brilliant location, love the peace and quiet with Berwick just up the road for everything you need. Best day out was Paxton House just up the road - brilliant interesting tour. Had days out every day but was lovely coming back to the cottage every time for a relaxing night. Thanks Louise for the candles (there was a power cut) - fortunately we didn't need them! Already planning next year's visit. Thanks again, L & I, Cleveland, September 2012
Louise, once again a lovely stay in your lovely cottage with some welcome goodies on our arrival. The weather has been great...We made it to Edinburgh - we didn't get to the Castle but we went on the Royal Yacht "Britannia". We highly recommend it. Floors Castle also worth a visit. Still more to see. We will be back. Thanks for everything. C & M, Derbyshire, September 2012
Excellent...wanted for nothing. Been just about everywhere. For food try Yummleys at Reston and Meringues at Jedburgh...Holidays over too soon. Louise and Harris thanks for everything - really appreciate it. See you soon. K, R & J, Maltby & Leeds, August 2012
Lovely cottage, well appointed and peaceful - thank you for the welcome and provisions. Found The Cross at Paxton to be the place we returned to for food and service (also close). Lindisfarne was great - went twice (you need £4.40 for car park in change for more than 3 hours). Bamburgh beach was wonderful and well worth the visit. Alnwick Music Festival and the secondhand bookshop were spectacular. The bookshop is worth half a day and has excellent coffee! G & A, Warwickshire, August 2012
Your cottage is beautiful, well laid out and user friendly. Area fantastic for beaches and towns. Parking good here and most areas. Benji (our dog) thoroughly enjoyed himself at Bamburgh and made this his second home...Best instructions for driving and finding cottage we have ever had...Thanks and look forward to seeing you in the future. A, A & B, South Shields, July/August 2012
Thank you for a lovely stay in your beautiful cottage. Had a lovely time exploring the area. Lots to see and do -can recommend Floors Castle at Kelso and the Kimmerston Riding School at Wooler. Also walking on the Ramparts at Berwick is nice of an evening. Thanks for everything. M & J, Barnsley, July 2012
Had a lovely stay on our honeymoon...enjoyed the peace and tranquility. Thankyou Louise for such a lovely welcoming cottage. L & T, Derbyshire, July 2012
The cottage is very comfortable and homely. We can't believe how quickly our stay has gone. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay - lots of rest and relaxation but so much to see and do in the area. The dogs have loved the walks and exploring the grounds at Paxton House. Many thanks for the welcome pack. What a lovely surprise! We hope to be back again soon. E, J, P and R, Fife, June/July 2012
This is a beautiful area to explore whether you want to walk in the hills or the miles of stunning coastline. Barney (Golden Retriever/collie/et al) can highly recommend Bamburgh Beach! The cottage is a delight to stay in, picnic table perfect for vino at sunset! Hopefully be back in September. CH & Barney, Inverness, June 2012
Brilliant cottage, brilliant area! Thanks for the week in your cottage, it has been lovely. Been to some lovely places - Bamburgh beach and Scots View to name just two. Hopefully be back very soon and thanks again Louise and Harris. K & R, Maltby, April 2012

Just a line to let you know how much we have enjoyed staying in your lovely little cottage. We also enjoyed sitting in the peaceful garden watching all the birds and admiring the views. We feel very rested now, we hope to come back sometime. A & A, Huntly, July 2011
