A 200 year old character cottage with lovely lawned garden and patio is set up in the hills, off the beaten track in the heart of the Golden Valley. Public footpaths lead off in every direction across the surrounding countryside and into local woodland. With stunning views across the Golden Valley and the Black Mountains, you would be hard pushed to find a more peaceful spot.
Accommodation Sleeps eight adults in three double and one twin bedrooms, all with feature wooden beams. Upstairs bathroom and separate downstsairs shower room, both having wash basin and w.c. Well equipped kitchen has a large double oven gas cooker and family sized fridge freezer. Large living room is equiped with comfortable sofas, wood burning stove, cd/radio/cassette player, TV, DVD player, video and piano. Sunny dining room with table and chairs for eight (high chair available), and door leading to patio. Lovely lawned garden with garden table and chairs. Parking for four cars. All bed linen included (but not towels). Use of oil central heating and washing machine included, no hidden extra costs! Arrival from 4 pm on the first day of your holiday and departure by 10 am on the final day of your holiday. Local Places of Interest and Activities - There is plenty of exploring to do locally including Abbey Dore with its Court Gardens and the historic Dore Abbey, Longtown and Llanthony castles and many beautiful Herefordshire churches. There are also many traditional farms to visit where you can purchase local produce, ranging from meat and poultry to fleeces and knitwear.
- Nearby there are pubs and restaurants offering good home cooked food, and local beers and ciders. There are also local caterers available who can bring fine food to you!
- A little further afield lies the picturesque town of Hay-on-Wye with its market, cafes, delicatessen, antique shops and book shops, not forgetting the famous annual literary festival held in May. It is also possible to do many outdoor pursuits from Hay.
- An easy drive of around half an hour will bring you to the cathedral city of Hereford, or in the other direction the market town of Abergavenny.
- The Black Mountains and indeed the rest of west Herefordshire offer great walking oppertunities, with a network of public footpaths providing the perfect way to enjoy the breathtaking scenery. Other outdoor activities available within the area include horse riding, cycling, archery, gliding, canoeing, painting, fishing and golf.
