Fordhead Farm Cottages are situated on a working farm on the banks of the River Forth with spectacular, panoramic views of the Trossachs. Just 1 mile outside the picturesque village of Kippen, yet within easy reach of Stirling, Callander and the Trossachs, Loch Lomond national park, Glasgow and Edinburgh, they provide the ideal base from which to explore this beautiful, historic area.
Accommodation in our 4 cottages consists of:
The Tool Shed - offers fantastic accommodation for couples, an ideal retreat for a romantic break or relaxing holiday. The craftsmen-built ash spiral staircase leads to the mezzanine bedroom with views over the river and Ben Lomond.
The Granary - Converted from a traditional, sandstone barn now offers superior accommodation for 4-5 persons in 2 bedrooms both with en suite shower rooms. The kitchen is incorporated into the spacious, airy living area and enjoys spectacular, panoramic views from the French doors of the Trossachs. The walled patio provides the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine and the sunset over Ben Lomond.
Fordhead Cottage - Adjoining the main farmhouse can also accommodate 4-5 persons in the 2 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a superb king size iron bed and ensuite shower room. The second bedroom has delightful views over the Gargunnock hills and can have twin beds or super king size bed with its own private shower room. The large, comfortable living area leads onto the patio and enclosed garden enjoying morning sunshine and views of Stirling castle. Fordhead Cottage has its own private hot tub!
Heatherlea - Located in the charming, traditional village of Thornhill, 8 miles west of Stirling, it offers superb accommodation for 6 people. Its accommodation consists of 3 bedrooms (2 doubles & 1 twin), a master ensuite shower room and family shower room, large lounge and dining area, kitchen and utility room. This historic, listed building has been lovingly restored to provide a modern, airy house with large, south facing garden and ample parking.
Dogs are welcome in all cottages and have recently planted 20 acres of Scottish native woodland. The path running through it, next to the river, provides an ideal walk. There are also plenty of more walks in the vicinity and maps and guide books are available.
Eating Out - We are fortunate to have superb pubs/restaurants all within 15 minutes drives from Fordhead to suit every taste and budget. Several local pubs also offer take away service from their menus. The local delicatessen Berits and Brown provides the perfect spot for a light lunch or coffee.
