Field End Cottage is situated in the tiny Dales village of Lofthouse which is seven miles from the bustling town of Pateley Bridge. This area of Nidderdale is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). - There are many walks and bridleways around Lofthouse, including the Nidderdale way which passes directly through the village and will take you to the wilder reaches of the upper dale.
- Just outside the village is How Stean Gorge, here there are gorge walks, with walkways, bridges and caves to explore, and a pleasant cafe.
- The cottage forms an ideal base for touring beautiful Nidderdale and beyond into neighbouring Wensleydale, Coverdale and Wharfedale.
- The Crown public house is 100 yards away and serves excellent beer and home cooked food.
