Ervadale Cottage is a beautifully renovated croft house with an acre of landscaped garden, ponds, ducks and chickens, nestling on the heather clad slopes of Kierfea Hill on the archaeologically rich island of Rousay, with stunning views across the Atlantic to more than 17 Orkney islands, a mere 20 minute car ferry journey from Orkney Mainland.
This tranquil island has a rich and diverse abundance of flora and fauna. Seals bask in Saviskaill Bay where the sea laps the soft sandy beach and otters fish in the shallows. Hundreds of migratory and resident birds feed and rear their young on the heathlands, along the cliffs and at the waters edge of the lochs. With the array of an artist's palette, rare wild flowers colour the hills and roadsides.
Ervadale Cottage comprises: Double bedroom, linen provided. Lounge with flagstone mantle fireplace; single sofabed; colour TV/VCR (airbed available). Kitchen area with fridge, microwave, Belling cooker, crockery and all utensils. Power shower room, WC and WHB. Full central heating. A welcome grocery pack and free range eggs are available and we are just a 15 minute walk from the island shop.
Tours of Rousay and Mainland Orkney to include archaeological sites, croft museums, walks and preferred points of interest are available at very reasonable rates. Also coastal sailing, fishing or wildlife trips in the sheltered island waters by our own catamaran.
