Beadnell: An interesting fact about Beadnell is that its harbour has the only west facing entrance on the whole of the east coast. The village itself has two pubs serving excellent food. The Village Pantry, opposite the church, is an excellent cafe serving food all day from breakfast onwards, it also provides free internet access. The local grocery shop includes the village post office. There is also a very popular local take away fish and chip shop. Both local pubs serve good meals. The bus stops give easy access to trips further a field for those who do not wish to drive. All these facilities are within 5 minutes walk from Dunes View. There are facilities for boat launching available in the beachside car park - subject to opening restrictions.
Out and About: - North Northumberland has many interesting attractions apart from its beautiful coastline. There are several beautiful castles within a relatively small radius - Alnwick, Bamburgh, Holy Island, Walkworth and Dunstanburgh.
- Bamburgh castle is stunning when fully lit against a dark night sky, try a ride past on a Friday or Saturday night - the castle is not always fully lit but you may be lucky and if you are you will never forget it!
- Holy Island - Lindisfarne - is accessed by a tidal causeway. Tide times can be found in the local paper or checked at Seahouses.
- Alnwick as well as its castle, has the famous gardens and tree house.
- The market towns of Berwick to the north and Morpeth to the south are both within 25 miles.
- Edinburgh, Beamish Museum and the Metro Centre are within easy commuting distance.
- Chillingham castle has the famous white cattle.
- Try a visit to the Farne Islands just off Seahouses, boat trips can be arranged from Seahouses harbour.
- The area also provides several good golf courses, many excellent bird watching opportunities, coastal or countryside walking or cycling and for youngsters (in body or mind) sandcastle building and rock pool exploring. There is something for everyone.
