NEW ON THE MARKET IN 2008
Dounhuila is a luxurious, well-equipped bungalow, in a stunning location. You will enjoy uninterrupted views looking south across Loch Slapin towards the Sleat peninsula, the Small Isles and the West Highlands. Escape for total relaxation with family, friends or the local wildlife. The Gaelic Princess Dounhuila, after whom our home is named, used the nearby Spar Cave as a refuge in the 9th Century; you can walk down to the Cave which is in the cliffs below the bungalow.

Accommodation The open-plan kitchen and dining area is fully equipped, boasting quality wooden shaker style units, marble worktops and Le Crueset cookware. Enjoy the cosiness of the oil-fired Rayburn which provides hot water, central heating plus heat for cooking. It is supplemented by a large electric range cooker and microwave. All fuels are included. There is a washing machine, large American style fridge and the pure spring water comes direct from our private spring. The dining area, seating eight, has a large floor to ceiling window providing spectacular views of Loch Slapin and access to the enclosed garden with raised patio, ideal for summer barbecues. Relax in the large lounge with its luxurious sofas, overlooking the Loch. A selection of CD's and DVD's are available or bring your favourites. Enjoy the various traditional board games plus children's toys such as Brio and Duplo. We also offer a 'book swap' - take one and leave one. There are four spacious bedrooms - two doubles, one with king size bed and two twin rooms (one with bunk beds) all with new duvets, pillows and plenty of quilts and throws but please bring your own linen. The modern bathroom has a bath and separate shower cubicle. There are plenty of fluffy towels for you to borrow. There is also a separate w.c. When you return from the great outdoors, sit on the old church pew to take off your boots. There is plenty of space for bulky coats etc plus separate drying room with tumble dryer and hanging space. Over the years that we have been coming to Skye we have collected a range of local guidebooks and maps that you are welcome to use, also binoculars for spotting otters, deer etc. Dounhuila is our family holiday home and is decorated with many interesting pictures and crafts. We hope you find a warm welcome and enjoy a most memorable holiday just as we do. Local area - Take a short walk through woodlands to a secluded bay where sea birds are prolific or over the moor to the isolated Prince Charles' Bay - this is where he is reputed to have hidden in 1746 before escaping to France.
- Located on the Strathaird peninsula, often regarded as the least developed part of Skye, Dounhuila is 1 1/2 miles from the timeless fishing village of Elgol - from here you can take a boat trip to Loch Coruisk. For the more adventurous, the start of the spectacular, cliff-top Camasunary walk is a short drive away, as is Blaven and its Marble Pools.
- Otters, red deer and golden eagles are often seen in the surrounding wilderness. You may even be lucky enough to see a sea eagle, a whale or dolphins.
