Location of Glengarriff
  • An Gleann Garbh (the rugged glen) is a name derived from the rugged beauty of the mountains and wooded valleys surrounding the village. Indeed there are many magnificent views of mountains from numerous viewpoints which hug the coastline that leads into Glengarriff.
  • This is one of Ireland's most beautifully situated villages and an area which is of special interest to botanists, because of the mild climate. It still has some of the original oak forest which used to cover most of Ireland. The village is the gateway to the Ring of Kerry and The Beara Peninsula, it is a picturesque village with all the charm of West Cork.
  • Garnish Island - This lies in the sheltered  natural harbour of Glengarriff. The island is also known as 'Illuaculin', Ireland's most outstanding garden island with its internationally famous collection of plants and is world renowned for its Italian Gardens often credited to the Gulf Stream which passes the coastline.
Facilities
Shops, pubs and restaurants adorn this village, which is in close proximity to Glengarriff and Bantry Golf Clubs. Traditional music is available almost every night in the local bars.
