Dalhougal House and adjoining apartments are over 200 years old. They have recently been refurbished to a very high standard of comfort, they have traditional furniture and an ambience suited to discerning guests. They have captured a cosy, homely atmosphere present in the best of Scotland's self catering homes.
Dalhougal is situated in the centre of Croftamie which is a typical small Scottish village. We are within the new Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park with all the new attractions. The apartments are only a quarter of an hour's drive from Loch Lomond's shores, the flagship centre of the National Park.
The stair to Nell's Apartment was originally outside and the turret was added about a hundred years ago. Both apartments are of traditional Scottish design with a lot of character. There is a secluded garden to the rear of the apartments where there are views to Ben Lomond and the Campsie Fells.
 Nell's Apartment Nell's apartment is on the upper right side of the picture (at top of page) and has an entrance up the stair within the turret. - It has a twin bedroom, a double bedroom, sleeping four very comfortably.
- A lounge/dining room.
- A fully fitted kitchen.
- A bathroom with a shower over the bath.
Facilities - The apartment is equipped with a fridge, microwave oven, washer/dryer, electric cooker, toaster, iron, colour television/VCR and hair dryer.
- The apartment has gas central heating and there is an additional electric fire in the lounge.
- Electricity and Gas are included in the price.
 - All bedding and towels are provided.
- The beds have modern duvets, extra blankets are available on request.
- A cot can be made available.
- The garden area is shared between the two flats. There are ample tables and chairs in the garden for the use of the guests.
- A breakfast package is provided for you to welcome you on your first morning.
- In consideration of all our guests we do not allow pets.
- The apartments are nonsmoking.

Location
Close by is Buchanan Castle, the original home of the Dukes of Montrose where many escapades with Rob Roy McGregor took place. Half an hour's drive away is Stirling, the centre of much of Scotland's history. A visit to Stirling Castle is a must. With the recent film, Braveheart, the life and history of William Wallace is of interest and can be viewed at The Wallace Monument also in Stirling.
A pleasant short drive takes you to The Trossachs which is a rugged area between Aberfoyle and Callander, this area has lots of forest walks. Also while in the area you can see Scotland's only lake, The Lake of Menteith with an island on which is Inchmaholm Priory. Our local parish church at Kilmaronock is one of the oldest in the district with some very old gravestones.
There are two golf courses within a mile, Buchanan Castle golf club, an 18 hole parkland course and Strathendrick, an interesting 9 hole, both welcome visitors. The national cycle track passes close by, cycles can be hired locally. There are many walks from the apartments with lovely views of the Endrick Valley. We offer free fishing on the River Endrick for our guests. Glengoyne Scotch Malt Whisky distillery is three miles distant which offers tours to visitors. Loch Lomond's proximity allows easy access to sailing on the loch from Balloch or on the mail boat sailing from Balmaha.
Glasgow is half an hours drive where there are many places of interest including The Burrell Collection, and many more museums and art galleries. a visit to Glasgow is well worth while. There are various good examples of Glasgow architect, Charles Rennie MacIntosh's work and nearby in Helensburgh is Hill House, one of his masterpieces.
During the summer season there are a variety of local events including Drymen Agricultural Show on the last Saturday in May, several local Highland Games in July and there is an up to date list of other events in the information packs in the apartments.
Directions
From the south M74/M8 Glasgow On approaching Glasgow on M74, change to the M8 and follow signs for Glasgow Central. Follow signs to Airport; pass Airport then follow signs for Erskine Bridge; follow signs for Loch Lomond take off at Junction 30; go over bridge (toll 60p); take A82 Crianlarich; continue till large roundabout near Balloch; take A811 to Stirling; 3.5 miles after the village of Gartocharn you meet the A809 at a T-junction; turn right and you will come to the village of Croftamie; on the left you will see The Wayfarers restaurant and bar; Dalhougal House is directly opposite.
From the east / Edinburgh Take the M9 to Stirling leave at Exit 10; take exit signed to Doune; after Safari Park take road on left signed to Gargunnock; travel this road approx 2.5 miles to T-junction with A811 signed to Erskine Bridge; keep on the A811 passing through villages of Arnprior and Buchlyvie; remain on A811 for 3 miles; turn left and immediately right signed Erskine Bridge; after bypassing Drymen 0.5 miles do NOT turn right but carry on straight ahead to A809 signed Glasgow; you will arrive in Croftamie; follow directions above.
