Approached via a long sweeping driveway, flanked by a large wild life pond and undulating fields grazed by cattle, Dale Cottage nestles in a secluded spot in the heart of the Peak National Park, surrounded by pretty mature gardens. From the grounds there is private access to the Monsal Trail and footpaths to local villages, Bakewell, Monsal Head and beyond.
Two miles away is the historic market town of Bakewell and a gentle stroll through fields leads to the pretty village of Ashford in the Water. Both have excellent stores (open 7 days), pubs/restaurants and the Chatsworth estate is 1.5 miles away with a superb farm shop/delicatessen and restaurant.
Accommodation This spacious cottage is full of character and has a southerly aspect with a pretty outlook from all rooms, there is central heating and some double glazing. The cottage is approached along a stone path through the garden to the front door leading to the large, stone flagged dining hall featuring an original window with shutters and original oak beam to the galleried stairs. A few steps lead to the cloakroom and toilet with basin. The well-equipped, stone flagged, kitchen has solid oak worktops, electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher and breakfast table with views over a pretty walled garden. The comfortably furnished lounge area features the original beamed ceiling with exposed timbers, polished floorboards and an original gritstone fire surround with log burning stove. The windows have original leaded light with hand blown glass. The splendid staircase lead to a galleried sitting area with the original fire place and original leaded window. Level access to the king size bedroom with original oak floorboards and windows with handblown glass. Two steps lead to the family bath room with bath, toilet, and basin with shaver point/light. A further double bedroom with en-suite with electric shower cubicle, toilet and basin with shaver point and light. Bed linen and heating are included. Outside - The garden area for guests' use is enclosed by wall/hedge and has views over a neighbouring field with cattle, there is a stone paved area with garden furniture. This area is gated proving an enclosed environment for children to play.
- Guests also have access to the large wildlife pond (at the beginning of the driveway) that is home to domestic Geese, Mallards, Coots, Moorhens, frogs, toads, newts, an abundance of fish and occasional heron! Also enjoy watching the free range rare breed chickens roam the grounds.
- The private gate to the Monsal Trial is accessed through the fields via the gate off the main driveway.
- There is parking for one vehicle at the cottage (please enquire if you require more than one parking space).
