Situated in the beautifully maintained grounds of an historic 17th century castle and a short distance from Inverness and its airport, the Gate Lodge has been converted to the highest standard with lovely antique furniture and paintings.

The castle itself has important Fraser and Mackintosh clan connections as well as having been the mustering point for Cumberland's forces before the battle of Culloden. The grounds and estate woodlands are home to numerous species of wildlife including red squirrels, pine martens, badgers and roe deer.

The large double-bedded room enjoys wonderful views over rich farmland to the Moray Firth and the Black Isle and beyond. This is an extremely comfortable base from which to explore the Highlands, Loch Ness, local castles (Cawdor, Stuart, Urquhart), numerous distilleries and the West Coast.
The Gate Lodge is adjacent to a quiet country lane at the entrance to the Estate and is within 10 minutes drive of the historic Culloden battlefield and visitor centre and 20 minutes drive of Inverness - the capital of the Highlands. Inverness is a bustling city with superb rail and air links, shopping and leisure facilities of ice rinks, cinemas, theatres, flume swimming pools. There are renowned long sandy beaches a few miles away at Nairn and also many golf courses close by, including a championship course at Nairn, and the famous Royal Dornoch. Other local attractions include; loch and river fishing, dolphin viewing boat rides, sailing, and hill and woodland walks.
