Cuillin Lodge is situated at the foot of the Cuillin in the tiny hamlet of Glenbrittle. The Cuillin are widely acknowledged as Britain's most spectacular mountains and Glenbrittle has a prominent place in the history of Scottish mountaineering. The cottage offers direct access to the hills for climbers and hill walkers and features stunning views of the mountain ridge from its decked patio and lounge (view from the lounge shown below right).
The area also offers more gentle coast and river walks. Eas Mor 'the grandest waterfall on Skye' is just a short walk from the cottage and the delightful fairy pools are also to be found in the glen. The sandy beach at Glenbrittle (photo above left) is one of the largest on Skye and has views out to the isles of Rhum and Canna. Glen Brittle Forest offers many miles of comparatively easy mountain bike trails.
There is a huge variety of wildlife in this beautiful location. Golden Eagles have been seen from the property and boat trips available locally afford sightings of Minke whales, Basking Sharks, Seals, Dolphins, Porpoises, Otters, Sea-Eagles and Puffins. Other local attractions are the Talisker distillery and the Old Inn which are both in the nearest village of Carbost.
