Classified by the English Tourist Board as 4 Star and situated amongst gloriously rolling countryside with attractive views down various dales.
Photo shows Ariel View of Cotterill Farm adjacent to its larger neighbour - serving to highlight the superb location, with hills and dales in all directions. - The cottages are tastefully appointed throughout, and the standards of housekeeping are extremely high, and something regularly commented upon by our guests.
- They all have colour TV, DVD and videos, microwaves, dishwasher, radios, hair dryers and all other facilities appropriate to a high quality conversion. 2 cottages have fully Sky programmes and the other has Freeview Sky.
- Wireless internet facilities and various other services.
- Facilities for disabled persons.
Dale View and Liffs Cottage for 4 persons We have two cottages converted from a single stone barn both of similar size on two floors. Each cottage has two bedrooms, one with two doubles and one with a double and a twin. The kitchens have been up-graded within the past year so they now benefit from gloss worktops, solid wood oak units, stone granite sinks and halogen cookers. They both have TVs and DVDs in the living area with a second TV in one of the bedrooms.
DALE VIEW - so named because of the views of the surrounding dales. This cottage has an upstairs lounge and kitchen area to take advantage of the views. The bedrooms and shower room are on the ground floor. There are two means of entry and exit, on the ground floor or up attractive external stone steps to the living area. TV.
LIFFS COTTAGE - So named because of the view of Liffs Hill two miles away. This cottage, again with a partly exposed old beam passing through the twin bedroom, landing and bathroom has the more conventional layout of lounge/kitchen on the ground floor and the two bedrooms and a fully equipped bathroom and shower on the first floor. The lounge has two Chesterfied leather suites.
MILKING PARLOUR (2 photos below) - A two bedroomed cottage all on the ground floor with a spacious en-suite shower/wet room, sleeping three, converted from a stone barn in 2005. Dishwasher, central heating, stone worktops, extremely comfortable and smart leather suite and much more.
THE DAIRY for 2 (photos at top of page and below)
This cottage for two person occupancy, is in fact of at least similar size to the cottages mentioned above. - There is a large sized bathroom with Italian floor tiles, containing five piece suite (i.e.including bath, seperate shower cubicle and bidet), and a similarly well equipped kitchen. Above these two rooms is a good sized galleried bedroom, which overlooks a large open plan lounge (twenty feet by twenty feet), rising to the rafters.
- The floor of the lounge is polished stone flags (with quality rugs in appropriate places) and a log burner on a stone plinth is a focal feature in the middle of the room. Some of the stone walls are exposed, as are the extensive wood beams. The tastefully co-ordinated furniture and furnishings are of a high standard.
- This has often been described by our guests as being a 'second honeymoon cottage'. There is a private patio area in front of the cottage with superb views.
General Facilities - A gravel drive leads to a separate parking area for The Dairy, Dale View and Liffs Cottage.
- On the other side is a substantial lawned area for the exclusive use of our guests, with table and bench sets.
- There is a shared barbecue.
- Part way down the drive is one of our two wild flower meadows.
- There is also a well-equipped free laundry room on site, as well as a further barn where bikes can be safely stored.
- Seven highly praised information folders in each cottage, must be amongst the best in the business.
The owners place considerable importance on the highest standards of housekeeping, something regularly commented upon by guests and Tourist Board Inspectors alike.
Location Situated in the heart of the White Peak (the area of the Peak District of dales, rolling hills and dry stone walls), the cottages are surrounded by a Nature Reserve, through which a footpath runs on its way to the River Dove at Wolfscote Dale. One mile downstream is Dovedale. There are numerous footpaths/bridleways on our doorstep and there are three cycle trails (former railway lines) of average 15 miles in length within 3 miles of our cottages. The village (and pub) is within 350 yards of the end of our drive.
