Directly opposite Captain Cook's childhood home, this detached, recently refurbished 18th-century Grade II listed fisherman's cottage lies on the sea front, just 50 yards from the wonderful beach, enjoying sea and harbour views. Antique oak furniture, an inglenook fireplace and original beamed ceilings give Coble Cottage a charm of its own. Staithes is an undiscovered gem. The Cleveland Way passes the cottage, and the North York Moors offer stunning walks. Robin Hoods Bay, and Whitby (10 miles), for good days. Pub 50 yards.
