Cnoc Eoghainn is a charming stone 18th century cottage situated on the historic Road to the Isles just yards away from Loch Rannoch in the attractive village of Kinloch Rannoch, only 19 miles from Pitlochry in Highland Perthshire. This is the exact geographical centre of Scotland. Perthshire, known as 'Big Tree Country' for its many beautiful forests and woodlands,is particularly splendid during the Autumn. Perthshire is home to Europe's oldest tree, the world's tallest hedge and Britain's tallest tree! A few miles along Loch Rannoch is the Black Wood of Rannoch, part of the ancient Caledonian pine forest.
Accommodation: There is a welcoming sitting room with dining area, comfortable seating and an open fire which provides a romantic atmosphere on cold nights. The sitting room has a colour TV with video, dvd player and a hi-fi with auxiliary input suitable for mp3 players (not provided). A wide range of local maps, tourist information, natural history books and some dvds/ videos are provided for your use. The kitchen includes an electric cooker, microwave, washing machine and a fridge. There are indoor and outdoor drying facilities. The cottage sleeps 4 in two bedrooms. The main bedroom has a double bed. The second bedroom has twin beds. Bed linen included in the price. The bathroom has a bath with a shower over. Garden is south facing, sunny and private, and overlooking the mountains. Garden furniture is provided. Heating is by electricity, with the addition of the open fire. Electricity is by meter reading on arrival and again at departure and should be paid before departure. Ample roadside parking. If you are contemplating two weeks holiday in Scotland, this would make a perfect first week before coming on to one of our other cottages at Loch Ness, but there is so much to see and do in this area that you could easily spend your two weeks here, happily. There are fantastic views of the mountains from the cottage and a particularly fine view of Schiehallion (The Fairy Mountain), one of Scotland's best known mountains. Lots of walks and cycle routes are in the area to suit people of all ages and ability.
There is a filling station in the village and shops, hotels and restaurants within walking distance of the cottage.
