Step back into the past in a beautifully restored 17th Century weaver's house in Barnard Castle's conservation area. The river Tees flows 50m away and yet the cottage is just a few minutes from local shops and restaurants.

• The house has enormous character with old beams, panelling, cast iron fireplaces, flagstone floor and pine doors.
• You can enjoy the open fire in the kitchen/diner and relax in the secluded patio garden.
• Both double bedrooms have their own en-suite bathroom.
• The rooms are full of antiques and books, and there is a sherry decanter and other little touches that will help you to unwind and switch off.
• Please note that the resident ghost is only visible to children.

Location  

• Barnard Castle has the world famous Bowes Museum (French Chateau design), a 12th century castle ruin (English Heritage), the ruins of Egglestone Abbey and other stately homes and historic buildings nearby.
• Many of the houses are Georgian or earlier and the little back lanes have not changed much for centuries.
• The town is an excellent base for walking (on the Teesdale Way and close to the Pennine Way), fishing, canoeing, and visiting antique and other individual shops in the town.
• You also have easy access to the Lake District (1 hour), York (75 mins.), Durham City (45 mins.), Beamish Museum (75 mins.) and to the Yorkshire and Durham Dales.
