Enchanting and elegant ground floor apartment for two in the heart of Dunkeld's delightful medieval centre, surrounded by the Cathedral, River Tay and National Trust for Scotland's 'Little Houses'. No. 6B Cathedral Street lies within one of the most photographed streets in Scotland. It is living history, with antiques and generous creature comforts.
Accommodation Ground floor easy access. Sleeps two with double or twin beds. Sitting/dining room has comfy sofa and two wing armchairs. Bathroom with walk in shower, grab handles for the less able. Kitchen with electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, coffee grinder, lots equipment and sharp knives for foodies! Heating by electric storage heaters and top up electric instant heaters, all costs included in rent. Egyptian cotton bed linen, towels all included in rent. - Above the door is a 1737 marriage lintel. Side windows face into Water Wynd, used by medieval monks to haul up their boats. Owned by author Ann Lindsay, whose 19th century family photos and book jacket covers decorate walls.
- Leisurely walking distance away are a bakery; licensed grocery founded in 18 century; an outstanding flower, fruit and vegetable shop; a newsagent; Kettles, a hardware shop with baskets galore; famous Dunkeld Smoked Salmon; boutiques; hairdresser and beautician; antiques; deerskin and Scottish crafts.
- Cathedral Street has seen 1000 years of history pass by. St Columbia's bones rested at Dunkeld, his followers having established a monastery; the effigy of a legendary warrior, the dastardly Wolf of Badenoch's is within the Cathedral; ransacked following the battles in 1689 after the death of the romantic 'Bonnie' Earl of Dundee. Robbie Burns visited famous fiddler Neil Gow in 1787; Queen Victoria was 'much pleased' to visit many times; J.M. Barrie's 'Little Minister' was filmed there; Alexander Mackenzie, first Canadian Prime Minister was born here. No 6B was the parish manse for Lundieff, now Kinloch, along the picturesque route of the five lochs, home of an osprey haven.
