Candlesticks is a charming, 17th century thatched cottage with its own old fashioned garden - with apple and plum trees, and a wishing well. It is located in a small Dorset village in the heart of the Blackmore Vale. The cosy sitting room has an inglenook fireplace, with a wood burning stove (logs provided) for snug winter breaks, and the garden-dining room has doors opening on to a sunny terrace for summer days. The kitchen is well fitted with oak units, a Belfast sink, and antique dresser - but with all mod cons such as electric cooker, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. The small bathroom is wood panelled with modern white fittings, tiled floor and has a heater. A concealed staircase leads to two charmingly furnished bedrooms - a double and a twin. The pillows and duvets are all feather, and the beds have electric blankets. Hazelbury Bryan makes an excellent centre for exploring the beautiful Dorset countryside, and the coast is an easy 40 minute drive away. Sherborne and Blandford Forum are close at hand, as are many less well known villages, with pubs to discover for evening meals.
The village has a shop for basic supplies and newspapers.
