A right royal welcome awaits you at The Byre, a newly converted, well appointed, 18th C. barn adjoining the owners house. The accommodation (double bed + cot) is on the ground floor with only a shallow step to the front door.
  • Surrounded by an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in an elevated position halfway between Ludlow and Church Stretton and 1 mile from Craven Arms it is south-facing with stunning views over the whole length of Wenlock Edge from the Corvedale to Ironbridge.
  • It is on a level site, with a large parking area and secure garden.
  • With a mellow Welsh slate roof and local stone and "waney edged" timber construction, it has exposed stone walls, vaulted ceilings with original oak beams, oak kitchen units and slate floors in the living area and thick carpets in the bedroom.
  • The Byre has the luxury of underfloor heating and LPG fires making this a truly year-round cottage.
  • The bedroom has a luxuriously fitted en-suite shower room with easy access.
  • A free welcome pack awaits your arrival, including essentials such as tea, coffee and milk, fruit and home made cake or biscuits or even a bottle of wine.
  • All bed linen and towels included.
  • Gas and electricity are included.
  • Wireless Broadband included.
  • Sky FreeSat TV, DVD/CD, VCR provided.
  • Good mobile phone reception on all major networks.
  • Secure covered cycle storage.
  • Large private parking area, and secure garden.
  • Gourmet meal delivery service from Egon Ronay award winning chef at very reasonable prices.

Location

  • The unsurpassable 12th C. fortified manor house of Stokesay Castle is close by as is the Award-winning Secret Hills Discovery Centre and The Land of Lost Content Museum.
  • Right outside the gate of The Byre either direction leads to wonderful walks or (energetic) cycle rides.
  • A 25 minute stroll towards the Long Mynd brings visitors to The Plough Inn, where the prize winning Shropshire Lad ale is brewed.
  • The Clun Valley, poet A.E.Houseman's "quietest place under the sun" is a mile or two over the pretty Hopesay Hill on whose slopes Highgrove nestles.
  • Much Wenlock, a scenic country drive away, was recently named by Sunday Times and Savills estate agents as one of the best British villages to live in.
  • Church Stretton, Ludlow, Shrewsbury and Hereford are all historic towns easily reached by car and the Ironbridge World Heritage site with its indoor and outdoor museums in the wooded Severn Valley is only 40 minutes drive.

We warmly invite you to come and sample the hospitality and friendliness of this relatively undiscovered but stunningly beautiful part of Britain and to stay with us at Highgrove whatever your interests and at any season of the year - this is truly an all-year round holiday place.
