• The unsurpassable 12th C. fortified manor house of Stokesay Castle is close by as is the Award-winning Secret Hills Discovery Centre and The Land of Lost Content Museum.
• Right outside the gate of The Byre either direction leads to wonderful walks or (energetic) cycle rides.
• A 25 minute stroll towards the Long Mynd brings visitors to The Plough Inn, where the prize winning Shropshire Lad ale is brewed.
• The Clun Valley, poet A.E.Houseman's "quietest place under the sun" is a mile or two over the pretty Hopesay Hill on whose slopes Highgrove nestles.
• Much Wenlock, a scenic country drive away, was recently named by Sunday Times and Savills estate agents as one of the best British villages to live in.
• Church Stretton, Ludlow, Shrewsbury and Hereford are all historic towns easily reached by car and the Ironbridge World Heritage site with its indoor and outdoor museums in the wooded Severn Valley is only 40 minutes drive.
