Nestling in the low hills of the beautiful Tyne Valley and enjoying 1/4 mile of fishing on the banks of the River South Tyne, the lodge and barn afford guests a holiday of escapism on the one hand and pure indulgence on the other. Taken as a whole or separately, both residences are built, furnished and equipped to a 5 star luxury standard with the added option of ancient woodland walks, fishing and picnics, all within the privacy of our 65 acre woodland estate. Situated close to Hadrian's Wall and the geographical centre of the U.K., Brokenheugh lies 1.3 miles east of our nearest village Haydon Bridge, and 7 miles west of Hexham, a busy market town built around the historic C7th Abbey Church. The lodge is conveniently located for day trips to Scotland and the Borders, the North Pennines, Lake District, Newcastle and the stunning Heritage North East Coast. Closer to home guests are free to enjoy walking throughout the estate, a haven for wild birds and native fauna, including red Squirrel, roe deer and otters. Charming gardens surround the lodge and barn. Brokenheugh Lodge sleeps 7 plus cots Architecturally interesting, the large 1890's sandstone house exudes warmth and comfort. - The spacious lounge, comfortably seating 9, features an old inglenook fireplace with log burner. Baskets with logs in winter and fresh flowers in summer are provided.
- A separate dining room with steps down to a bespoke kitchen creates an open, gregarious eating area. An enclosed courtyard has alfresco dining.
- The original inner staircase leads to 4 bedrooms, 2 double with en-suites and TV, a twin and single with the shared use of a shower/wet room. Master bedroom has a 6' bed, dressing room and a luxurious bathroom with large bath and separate shower.
The Orchard Barn sleeps 2 plus cot Cosy and comfortable, the stone barn overlooks the old orchard and original kitchen garden. - Double French doors open onto an enclosed patio with garden furniture and barbecue.
- Inside high vaulted ceilings with exposed beams, antique oak floors and a log/coal burning stove create warmth and character.
- A compact open plan kitchen with a window to the garden includes every modern appliance.
