This 5-star, Gold Standard, 19th Century, 2-bedroom, timber cottage lies tucked away on a 30 acre private estate in the High Weald of Sussex in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). One of only a fraction of self-catering cottages to be awarded the Gold Standard, Blackdown Cottage provides the highest possible quality of guest comfort and care, leaving you, our guests, to get on with the serious business of enjoying your holiday.

Accommodation

We leave nothing to chance and provide everything you are likely to need during your stay including the obvious like pure Egyptian cotton bed linen, over-sized Goose-down duvets, open fires, flat-screen TV (complete with a wide selection of DVDs), a fully fitted and equipped kitchen and much, much more. There's even some help from nature with frequent visits from a herd of deer, some sound effects from several families of badgers and frequent sorties by flower-chewing (and seriously over-weight) rabbits.

Approached down a private lane, the cottage is hidden from the world by ancient woodland and is yet close to the major shopping centres of Royal Tunbridge Wells and Lewis, the formal gardens of Great Dixter and Pashley Manor and any number of castles and manor houses.

The home of Rudyard Kipling is two minutes away while the castles at Scotney, Bodium and Leeds are also close by. Want more? Visit the site of the Battle of Hastings and the great Norman Abbey built by William the Conqueror, less than 30 minutes away by car.
