Blackbird Cottage is a detached Cotswold stone cottage built c.1750, of considerable character and charm. It has been restored with great care, retaining its cosy atmosphere with exposed old oak beams, whilst incorporating the comforts of modern living and forming a self contained private dwelling.
The cottage is tucked away in Great Rollright, a quintessential Cotswold stone-built village in a conservation area. It is in a very quiet road where not more than twenty cars or people pass by in a day.
In the village there is an 11th century Norman church, on old Rectory and a Manor house. The old Smithy has been converted into a good general store and post office and there is a farm shop with a restaurant nearby.
Great Rollright is 3 miles from Chipping Norton and 20 miles from Oxford and Stratford-upn-Avon. It is within easy reach of Blenheim Palace, Stow-on-the-Wold, Banbury, Burford, Witney and Bourton-on-the-Water. It is an ideal base for touring the Cotswolds and is only 2 miles from the 4000 year old Rollright Stones. Cross-country walks and cycleways start in the village. Fishing and horse riding nearby.
