Accommodation
Our four cottages have been converted from obsolete barns on our 30-acre farm in mid-Devon. Apple Cottage (3 bedroom) adjoins Pear Cottage (2 bedroom). Oak Cottage (large 3 bedroom, one with en-suite) adjoins Acorn Cottage (2 bedroom; suitable for the less mobile too). Each is comfortable, well equipped with teletext TV/video/DVD, CD/cassette/radio/Hifi, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and microwave. Full central heating. Baths have thermostatic showers; Acorn has a walk-in shower room. Apple and Oak each have a wood burning stove. Patios and Gardens. Car parking; some covered parking. Laundry facilities. Games Room. 24 hour garage (1 mile) provides fuel, food, milk and newspapers. Buses stop near there. Okehampton (3 miles) has Waitrose and Somerfield supermarkets, shops, restaurants, cinema, library, pool, banks, etc. Pubs offer varied menus.
Whereabouts
Centrally in Devon, near the Dartmoor National Park (three quarters of a mile), with quick access to the Exeter to Cornwall (A30) dual carriageway and to the M5 (junction 31) 22 miles east. The A386 skirts Dartmoor, linking Plymouth to Bideford, Westward Ho!, Barnstaple etc. in north Devon. Nearest main line Rail station is Exeter.
Outdoor pursuits Children and friendly dogs welcomed. Opportunities exist for such as walking, cycling, horse riding, golf and fishing. Castles, ancient sites, gardens and numerous National Trust Properties abound. An excellent touring base for Devon and Dartmoor, with Exmoor, Bodmin Moor, Torbay - cities of Exeter and Plymouth - and many beaches all within a 30-mile radius.
