Locality:
  • The charming picturesque village of Chardstock lies on the borders of Devon, Dorset and Somerset with sweeping views in all directions. Its history can be found in the lovely ancient church nearby, and the Thatched 16th Century Inn just 200 yds (photo on right), serves fine food for lunches or dinners. There is a friendly Village Store, next to the Village Hall, while supermarket needs are about 5 miles away in both Chard and Axminster.
  • The World Heritage Site of the Jurassic Coast is approximately 10 miles (Lyme Regis, Seaton and Charmouth) where fossil hunting is a popular occupation. The National Trust coastline of Beer, Branscombe and Burton Bradstock can also be enjoyed easily.
  • Further afield, are the County towns of Exeter, Taunton and Yeovil.
  • National Trust properties are within easy distance, as is the Cistercian Forde Abbey at Chard with it's award winning gardens. Dartmoor and Exmoor can easily be reached by car.
  • We are only a short distance from Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's 'River Cottage'. Restaurant and scrumptious goodies in Axminster. Enjoy a peaceful stay at Barn Owls whilst cultivating your skills with Hugh on one of his courses!
Our aim is to offer you a relaxing 'home from home' in this rural part of beautiful East Devon, where you can enjoy the comfort, or explore Britain's glorious West Country. The friendly owners welcome guests and try to ensure they have a memorable holiday.
