Opened in May 2005 these two adjoining cottages offer a quiet retreat amongst stunning hilly countryside. They are fully equipped with all mod-cons, and complimentary toiletries. Afternoon tea, local hand made chocolates and wine on arrival. All towels and bed linen provided. Barcloy Farm - The cottages are set on Barcloy, a 840 acre farm, home to a variety of sheep breeds including Soay - the oldest existing breed in Britian dating back 4000 years.
- We sell home grown produce when available, including eggs, honey and vegetables.
Location - We are five miles from Kirkcudbright, harbour town and artists' colony past and present with its cafes, antique and craft shops and galleries.
- Places to visit include the Wildlife Conservation Park and Broughton House (National Trust) - historic home of artist E.A.Hornel.
- River boat trips can be taken and the area offers excellent opportunities for walking, cycling, birdwatching, golfing and surfing.
- The Solway Coast is scatttered with unspoiled beaches and there are opportunities for garden lovers too including Threave Gardens (National Trust) just outside Castle Douglas.
