Barcloy Farm
  • The cottages are set on Barcloy, an 840 acre farm, home to a variety of sheep breeds including Soay - the oldest existing breed in Britian dating back 4000 years.
  • Our eldest daughter Hannah has a brood of 10 laying hens and a cockerel called Steve and will happily sell you eggs when available.
Location
  • We are five miles from Kirkcudbright, harbour town and artists' colony past and present with its cafes, antique and craft shops and galleries.
  • Places to visit include the Wildlife Conservation Park and Broughton House (National Trust) - historic home of artist E.A.Hornel.
  • River boat trips can be taken and the area offers excellent opportunities for walking, cycling, birdwatching, golfing and surfing.
  • The Solway Coast is scatttered with unspoiled beaches and there are opportunities for garden lovers too including Threave Gardens (National Trust) just outside Castle Douglas.
