Unique detached 19th century lodge, within secluded grounds, bounded by the Cally Woods and Fleet Forest. At the end of a short unmade track, this idyllic hideaway is a private and peaceful retreat, yet only 2 miles from Gatehouse-of-Fleet (shops, pubs, restaurants). Gatehouse-of-Fleet lies close to the Galloway Forest Park, recently named one of the best star-gazing sites in the world.



Accommodation  
  • The cottage has a comfortable living/dining room, with cosy open fire, CD player, satellite TV, DVD and sofa bed (sleeps two);
  • Fully equipped kitchen with breakfast bar, dishwasher, washer-dryer, microwave, electric cooker and fridge freezer;
  • Furnished conservatory with garden views, ideal for birdwatching;
  • Double bedroom and bathroom/toilet;
  • Upstairs is an attic bedroom with twin beds and TV / video.
  • To help you enjoy your stay, books, local maps and information; games, videos and toys are provided.

 Outside  
  • The cottage has a large fully enclosed area of hillside (ferns, wild flowers and trees) to the rear, with uninterrupted views of the hills of Galloway.
  • Woodland garden and lawn to the front, with trampoline.
  • Cycle storage available on request.
Location
A haven for wildlife (bats, badgers, birds and red squirrels!), the cottage is ideally situated for walking and cycling. Walks and cycle trails (National Cycle Route 7), which lead through the forest and down to the coast, are literally on your doorstep! Cycle hire in nearby Kirkcudbright. Large sandy beaches of Sandgreen and Carrick, with its rock pools, nearby, and golf, riding, watersports on Loch Ken, fishing (lake and sea), all within easy reach. Well-behaved dogs welcome.
