This small site is delightfully situated just 60 metres from the shores of the Seil Sound with spectacular views across the water. Our two well maintained timber chalets offer a peaceful and relaxing holiday base amidst stunning scenery. "Coll" chalet has outstanding and uninterrupted views across the sea, and is set a little apart from the others offering a high degree of privacy, it is much sought after for its enviable position. "Easdale" chalet has a double width veranda for al fresco dining and plenty of parking for two vehicles or even your boat. It also has a bath and shower which is useful for younger families. Balvicar itself is a quiet hamlet on the Island of Seil which is connected to the mainland via the lovely old "Bridge over the Atlantic" and is just 15 miles south of Oban. Accommodation
Each chalet has been refurbished and now has a well equipped kitchen with new full sized cookers and microwave ovens.
Each lounge has TV and DVD players, CD / radios, a well stocked bookcase and cosy coal effect stoves. There are also electric wall heaters in every room.
There are two bedrooms in each chalet. One twin bedded and one double room with all bed linen provided.
Each bathroom has a bath and / or shower.
All chalets have been fully double glazed and fitted with patio doors to maximise the wonderful views.
Electricity is via £1 coin operated meters.
Each chalet is on raised "legs" and has useful storage beneath for dingys and kayaks.
We are happy to welcome your four legged friends, but do ask that you bring their own bedding!
The shoreline can easily be reached from the wooden walkway which we built from the front of the site down to almost the high tide mark. When the tide is low, children have a lovely time crabbing on the shore, and star fish and clams can often be found.
Location
Balvicar has an excellent licensed general store and Post Office where you can also hire DVDs for lazy evenings in! Freshly baked pastries are out of this world, and are easily walked off on the beautiful coastal paths around the site.
There is also a 9 hole golf course within easy walking distance.
There are lots of things to do from this lovely holiday base including boat trips such as the high speed Sea-fari (departing from just a couple of miles away) and trips to the close historic Islands of Easdale and Luing (pronounced "Ling").
We are blessed with an abundance of local wildlife, such as birds of prey, seals and sometimes otters. White tailed sea eagles have been seen from the site, and long eared owls recently nested in the conifers next to the site.
There are pubs serving great seafood (including a micro brewery) on the island, and Oban itself has a wealth of restaurants and take-aways.
Nobody likes midges and we are blessed at Balvicar by the lack of them; the proximity of salt water and on shore breezes helps keep them at bay so you can get on with enjoying your holiday with us.
