For a relaxing break Bakers Mill Farm nestles in the beautiful and peaceful Axe valley surrounded by the rolling hills and picturesque villages of West Dorset. The working farm dates from the early 1600's and is a haven for wildlife. You may see rabbits, foxes, badgers and deer. The deer are not shy and can often be seen grazing near the cottages. Heron, geese, ducks and buzzards, and many species of smaller bird can be spotted, ideal for bird watching. Water voles and otters have recently inhabited the farm.
The holiday cottages comprise a Grade 11 listed stone barn conversion, with one double bedroom with hand carved four poster bed, and two twin rooms. Also traditional farm buildings which have been tastefully restored to create four terrace cottages, 3 sleeping 2 and 1 sleeping 2+1 child. In addition a cot is available. - There is a recreation room, laundry, BBQ.
- One pet per cottage is welcome. As this is a working farm with an abundance of wildlife we ask that dogs are kept under close control.
- We have three stables and a paddock for visitors wishing to bring their own horse to explore the area on horseback.
- The whole complex surrounds a sunny courtyard, featuring a rill and small pond.
Location - There are many walks and bridlepaths from the farm, and facilities in the area for golf, horse riding, fishing, clay pigeon shooting and even llama trekking.
- For those who wish a more relaxing holiday there are many fine old houses and gardens to visit.
- Though in the heart of the countryside, there is a shop, post office and pub within short walking distance (less than a mile).
- Thomas Hardy's countryside, historic market towns, and the World Heritage Jurassic Coast are all within easy reach of this idyllic setting.
