Located in secluded grounds in the picturesque village of Salen, on the Ardnamurchan peninsula, Hillside Chalet is ideally located for exploring the beautiful rocky coastline, secluded sandy beaches of the peninsula and wonderful wildlife; it provides the perfect base in which to relax and enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of Ardnamurchan.

Accommodation

Hillside Chalet is well equipped.
Bedrooms comprise one double and one twin, all with electric blankets.
All bedding, linen, towels, tea towels, hand soaps, detergents and cleaning materials and electricity are included.
Ironing facilities and hair dryer.
Fully equipped kitchen.
Modern shower room with corner Mira power shower, loo and heated towel rail.
In the main lounge there is a dining area with views looking out over an extensive garden, and there is log burner for those who like a real fire, with logs provided. Satellite TV and DVD.
There is also an adjacent store room with tumble dryer, facilities for hanging wet weather gear and bike storage.

Location

Ardnamurchan's southern coastline follows the shores of Loch Sunart which marks the most westerly tip of the Scottish mainland. The shores of Loch Sunart are a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest and the ancient Sunart Oakwoods around Salen are home to a wide range of flora and fauna. There are also many sites of geological and historic interest throughout the area.
There are wonderful hill and forestry walks nearby. Take a trip out whale watching and keep an eye out for eagles, otters, pine martens and wildcats. For fisherman, there is both sea and loch fishing and boats can be hired locally. If you choose to bring your own boat, parking is available on site and launching facilities and red diesel are available opposite at Salen jetty.
The Salen Hotel is a 15 minute walk away and provides a warm and welcoming bar and good local food - with local musicians often playing on a Wednesday night.
There are local provision stores in Acharacle, Strontian and Kilchoan. Fuel is available at the Post Office stores in Strontian and at the Ferry Stores in Kilchoan. Visit the local art gallery at Resipole, and discover the range of talented craft folk living and working in the area. There is easy access to ferries for exploring some of the beautiful and remote offshore islands.
