An Darach is a substantial, detached granite-built family house set in its own garden on the high ground in the attractive Highland village of Kincraig. The garden leads down to a gate, and a short walk to the well-stocked village shop and post office. Opposite the village store, there is access to the beautiful Loch Insh.
An Darach lies in the heart of one of the most spectacular parts of the Highland region. At the front there is a sitting-out area with views of the hills of Glen Feshie and at the back of the house is Speybank Walk, meandering through native oak and birch woods and looking down onto the River Spey as it leaves Loch Insh - ideal walking for dogs.
Accommodation is on 2 floors: The back door leads into the well-appointed kitchen through the utility room which contains washing machine, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The family kitchen is large and well-equipped to meet the needs of one or two families for an active holiday in the Highlands. Essentials include a microwave, duel-fuel cooker, and plenty of work top space. The hallway leads to a shower-room with WC and wash-hand basin, and there is ample room to store luggage and hang coats. The sitting-room has an open fireplace, television, DVD player and CD player. There is also a spacious and sunny dining-room, which has a bay window, with views across to the hills of Glen Feshie. Upstairs An Darach comfortably sleeps 8, including 2 twin rooms, a double room and a bunk room. The bathroom is spacious and contains both WC and a shower, and a heated towel rail. All linen is provided, and the cost of electricity and gas is included. There is full central heating throughout. Private parking within the grounds at the rear. Location - Kincraig lies within the Cairgorms National Park.
- It is situated on the banks of the River Spey, famous for its salmon fishing, where it leaves Loch Insh.
- Not far from here is the Sailing School which offers a wide variety of activities both wet and dry.
- Nearby Aviemore is one of the main centres in Scotland for winter sports.
- 5 miles to the South is Kingussie, a typical Highland town, with an excellent butcher, AJ Gow, famous for their home-made haggis and excellent black pudding.
