The glee of pure white sand.
Alderney is a very special place, often described as magical. Those who are regular visitors have already discovered the many special attributes that go together to make up this most desirable holiday venue. Alderney's heritage is partly French - road names such as Venelle des Gaudions, La Val and Le Huret being just some of many, with local names such as Audoire, Dupont, and Gaudion showing the origins of some of the families. - We always welcome young families who come just to enjoy the good, old-fashioned 'bucket-and-spade' holiday, especially as Alderney is one of the few places left where children can enjoy themselves as we used to do, way back when...
- Whilst the youngsters are making the sandcastles and hunting in the abundant rock pools, adults find that the peace and seclusion of the beaches develops a tranquillity unknown in most holiday destinations.
- Alderney's historical origins start from the Iron Age, through the Romans and then Napoleonic era forts, samples of Festung Europa from WWII and up to the present, offering the visitor an unusual glimpse into a time-capsule that progress has left largely untouched.
Perhaps you might visit someday soon and see whether you, too, will fall under Alderney's spell?
Remember, it's only a short trip from the UK via either Aurigny (Southampton Airport), or Blue Islands (Bournemouth International), or via Guernsey for departure points from further afield - travel details on our web pages.
