Location  

  • The nearby cliffs afford some spectacular seaviews with rock fishing for those who wish.
  • The house is situated on the most northerly part of the island, however, the roads in this area are long and straight ensuring only a 30 minute drive to Stornoway.
  • Throughout the Ness area are superb oppertunities for craft collectors and we have a number of resident artists including paint, photography and fashion who have galleries to visit.
  • Botanists will enjoy the machair walks with an abundance of wild orchid and other native plants, whilst orntholigists will enjoy the habits of our seabirds and challenge to catch sight of the elusive corncrake, still visiting in the islands.
  • The moors and hills throughout Lewis provide hours of rambling and hiking opportunities as well as a number of short signposted walks to sites of historic interect.
  • Apart from the infamous Callanish stones, arguably one of the most spectacular in the UK, Lewis has a number of stone circles throughout the island as well as a number of old norse mills and even a recently discovered old iron age village at Bosta beach only a half hour drive away.
  • Ness also boasts the best activity playpark on the island which is situated on the eoropie beach machair.
  • Eoropie beach is only 5 minutes drive from the house and is one of the most popular on the island for surfing.
